The kingdom of Azkol, famed for its diamond mines and its incredible mountain range, the Varsuans. It had a population of perhaps three million, all with stories to tell; each with joys, hates, enemies and friends. There were the poor and the sick, little pitiful things; the merchants, distributors of wealth; the soldiers, those who defended the kingdom; and the nobility, who were supposed to rule the kingdom with a just hand. And yet in an instant, the whole kingdom had been turned into ash and fire.
Her brother had done this. Fereon. Warrior god and lord of the Stekke people. The god had saved his divine energy and unleashed it in one fell swoop. Why? Simply because he disliked his brother-god, Jalan. Jalan himself was of course angered at the destruction of his work and soon wrought blizzards and conjured terrible beasts on the people of the Stekke Steppes. And so the two gods fought, with beast and man.
Orseth had watched the whole conflict from the beginning, and indeed predicted this. Fereon was always hateful of Jalan ever since Jalan wedded the goddess Vero. Orseth thought it amusing that love and lust could do such things to people, even gods. He himself had little need for such things. Orseth decided that this conflict must end. Should this war continue, her own plans would be at risk. She he had carefully created a line of heroes, or at least the ancestors of these heroes. A tribe of nomads, strong and crafty. She needed them to remain alive for at least another three centuries, then she could allow them to die off. So Orseth called for her servants, crow and man, and sent them to relay orders to the nomads of Stekke and the remaining Azkolians, and she herself sent divine messages to his brother gods. Eventually, the two gods appeared, and immediately started attacking each other. Orseth separated them and began speaking.
It was only months later, in mortal time, that a deal had been made. The two gods would end their conflict via sending three champions against each other. Of power, of knowledge, and of guile. What the two gods did not know of was that she had already rigged their champions, making sure that neither would take victory completely...And so the two gods would have to come to him again...And she would dictate that the two people be forced to work on a vast city, Ungolthem. Yes, that would aid her immensely in a millennium or so.
ACT: Broker peace between the two gods, rig their heroes, and make their people build the city of Ungolthem.
