Dizzy Dwarves
« on: January 01, 2012, 07:03:31 pm »

Does dizzyness prevent dwarves from making things with quality modifiers? I did a bare bones cavern embark and without cats to eat them cave spiders bit a few of my dwarves.  My proficient mason was one of the victims and he's turned out a good number of tables and chairs while dizzy none of them have qualities, even at dabbling I've never seen a string that bad.

I've had three dwarves bitten, none of their creations have had any quality. I took them off the jobs and assigned dwarves who weren't poisoned and sure enough there were well crafted and finely crafted things being produced, prior to the bites the three dwarves weren't having any trouble either. I think I found something here.

If they are now worthless....send them to the 'food production' plant.

Checked the raws and found this
[SYNDROME]
         [SYN_NAME:spider bite]
         [SYN_AFFECTED_CLASS:GENERAL_POISON]
         [SYN_IMMUNE_CREATURE:SPIDER_CAVE:ALL]
         [SYN_INJECTED]
         [CE_DIZZINESS:SEV:10:PROB:100:RESISTABLE:START:5:PEAK:100]  never ends!

I guess cave spider bites are actually pretty serious depending on who they happen to, not only are they "I've been drinking water and I haven't slept in days" slow they can't make anything worthwhile. It would be pretty freaking awful to have happen to a legendary. Is there any way to weaponize this?

Yeah I had my legendary mason suffer a spider bite and I had regrleate her to planting and cleaning, and herbalisim. It was a relief when she died in a goblin ambush. And no, I don't think the dizziness ever goes away.
