The code itself is self-sustaining, the more malicious code will replicate itself to create hordes of Cybers. But that kind of code is usually found at the end of uncharted hyper-links.

Nonono, like data is held on computers that are run by electricity.

Why the hell hasn't every single computer broken down or lost power within a decade?

Everything is stored on the internet on a softdrive, and I mean everything. So basically everything is probably run on some kind of super server with an infinite power supply.
