Do you first make image in grayscale mode (and textures of materials), and then use  colors on the top layer?

Of course, you can ask ^^

First I do a sketch in greyscale. Then I ink with a 5 pixel brush, to have a sharp looking black and white. Then I do all the materials, textures and color independently

Oddly, despite dance battlers being a fairly common trope in games and other fiction, I can't think of a single one that uses flaming poi as weapons.  Seems like an obvious choice in retrospect.

Here's what I did today:
