So how long does it take to make something like that with NURBS?

Considering I used the original polygon mesh to create a point cloud, (mesh vetricies), and then treat it like a reverse engineering project... 3 days hard work.

Dang I thought it would have taken longer, but then again I've only messed around with a 3D modeling program and I never made anything that looked like anything but a big jumble of crap.

I am a skilled CAD operator...  What takes me 3 days would probably take somebody else longer.

I have put the dovetail system on the parts it is made of, and have started printing...  We'll see how well it turns out.

Sling. Strategic bevels seem to work way better than the bend tool or the bend deform for making curves. I kind of wish I discovered that earlier.

First part of the detector has come out of the printer.  Nothing fancy here, just the bottom "sled" part.



I am kinda pleased with how well it printed though.  The middle part (with all the buttons and stuff) is in the printer right now. Wont be done for several hours yet.

It is now several hours later.  The second part has come out of the printer. It's a little rough, but not terrible.

My dad has one like that, too. I was never allowed to fire it either.
