So... I feel like I finally achieved some nerd rite of passage several years late but - here's a character design for a D&D campaign. I know it's really flawed and all that but it's orders of magnitude better than the fat disco dancing box-barians I started with years ago.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I love it! Look at the fantasy mullet! I would not blink twice if that was a sketch in a rulebook somewhere.

Love that character sketch.

Just did a little figure/dynamic posing practice to see if I could still draw from a reference (in preparation of applying to an MFA in animation that I started months ago):

Uh... Actually, kind of thrilled about it. The proportions are not perfect but... Maybe I should just make a whole new portfolio instead of the crap I have from years ago...

Thoughts?

I would recommend holding onto a piece or two you were proud of from your past that exemplify one thing really well, alongside a new piece that shows understanding of said concept of the old piece.

Having helped a few lovers and friends build portfolios, this tends to be the most successful way to handle portfolios as it helps show your progress as an artist and your understanding of artistic choices.

Thanks for the advice... I definitely would keep some things, but as it stands it's all stuff from like eight years ago, four years ago, and some of the pixel animations you may or may not have seen floating around here. To say the least, it is... out of the ordinary and probably quite lacking for a potential animators portfolio.

I might (might) reopen the Mong Kima thread, as it is the usual bookeeping of the happenings of my little world. I do that mostly for myself, without pretention, for the joy of worldbuilding. If people are interested I'll just post them there

Hey guys, need some advice here. No drawings (yet). Basically, after extending some feelers and really thinking about my portfolio. Uh. It's shit. There's a a good bit (~6 give or take) pieces that are... passable/usable, but I think on the whole I'm looking at at least 6 life drawings, with at least half of those finished as fuck.

My plan is to just hang out on my porch and get a some of them done, but I'm sure I'll have to make my way out of my apartment to really get enough material. Wary about including some of my decent, but unfinished older work, but also not thrilled about creating an entirely new portfolio in a couple of weeks. Should I just dive right in?

fakeedit: Also, would anyone be willing to help a fellow forumite out and give me the real talk about how much work my portfolio needs? (after viewing it)
