Would you like me to redline your drawing? Some consider that helpful, some are offended by it...So I'm asking before posting anything, but if you want, I can show you where I think the mistake is (yes it's the butt)

• When your construction is done, do a "transparence test" to see if it's good. Take your paper, face a lightsource, flip the paper and look at it from the transparence. It will make your brain think you're not the artist and will wave away the love eyes every artist look at their own art with, and will allow you to correct your mistakes more easily
Just checking because I'm not sure based on your description, but what you're talking about is just mirroring the image right?

Ya, I think we're on the same page, but I'm always happy to pinpoint the problems.

Here, my modest attempt.

snip

Yes exactly, flipping the picture tricks the brain into thinking it's not the author. You look at the picture like a spectator would...so you notice the flaws. More often than not, the transparancy test is a do or die situation for most of my pictures, and when I forget to do it early I always end up regretting it

Thanks my dude. Kind of annoyed I wasted a bunch of years letting them rust :/

In fact, I'll probably post one or two more today. (Sorry peeps not interested in figure drawings.)

That was fast. This one's already a lot better than the last. I think you're just rusty and you'll shake it off quick if you're diligent and don't permit minor mistakes.

Thanks, that is motivating! I DO have to be careful about rushing. I tend to go overdrive and either burn myself or rush the actual drawing and harm it.

I totally agree with Parsely, you obviously don't start at sea level ! You'll shake that rust in no time. Also ...yeah, don't burn out. Keep a consistant program you know yu can keep. Three doodles a day is more than it takes to improve at fast pace, but the most important thing is to keep consistant over a long period of time.

This drawing is really good, keep it up !

Also while I'm at it, have an elven spearwoman from Pilalene, in my little DF world

Those bushes coming off of her staff remind me a lot of the trees in Chrono Trigger.

---

I made a thread specifically for artists who want feedback on their work. Over the years I've had increasing feelings that that kind of place is necessary after hearing time and again from artists who post here and are disappointed when no one replies to their work.

Now they can be doubly disappointed when they post there and get no feedback. :P

B-but I'm always happy to run my mouth you just got to ask I:

It's just that unrequested feedback is usually seen as very rude among artists
