Perhaps a liiiiiittle bit too cross-eyed, but it's definitely an improvement! c: (looking cross-eyed is also much more acceptable than the thousand-yard stare)
Also, lightly sketching stuff with a pencil as you're doing is highly recommended, it is EXTREMELY difficult to nail a proper outline from a blank canvas. I usually make use of this when i'm not just dicking around, because it makes an astronomical difference. Not only is it easier to start out lightly, it's also much more easy to correct things, and subsequently visualize the solid lines. It's like building a bridge before trying to cross a chasm!!

also because you made me think of eyes again here's four pairs of eyes

It may be worthwhile to have the babies fall into ring of fortifications or windows, to prevent anyone from catching and saving them.

For one, i have "finished" the first canonical depiction of Chadsworth the TERRIBLE VINYL DRAGON

So many technical things went badly, but fuck it, this is probably the most hardcore concept i have ever drawn. :U
On top of that, just today i learned that there is such a thing as vampire watermelons in folk legends.

I see definite inhumanity. But it looks rather... cuddly.

His body may be cute and globbly, but his eyes are pure burning hatred given physical gelatinous form. Woe betide the person who does not realize this.

I always vector. I like being able to make sweeping changes to something.

Yes. Yeeeeeeeeessssss. It's so fiddly when you first start with it, but that's what hooks illustrators on Vector Art.

Here's an experiment with paint to see how my painting skills were if I were restricted to using only a brush instead of doing pixel art.

Tell me what you think?

Not as good.

Drawing experience transfers to pixel art, but not vica versa, so therein lies the problem I think. Maybe learn a little anatomy/form/lighting?

Partially correct, as i went that exact way. I would NOT be able to draw as well as i do now (relatively speaking, as i'm still not very high on the absolute scale) if i hadn't done so much pixelling beforehand. With that said, the transition wasn't easy at all. The hardest thing, i think, is to get used to the fact that you can't just fix and smooth out your lines like you can with pixel art, and every little jitter in your hand becomes visible on your drawing. On top of that, fixing those jitters can be painfully difficult if it is to go unnoticed.

Although i agree that the pixel art looks better, i'd say that it is a pretty good start, given how tricky it is. You using mouse or tablet? Because i know from experience that mousepainting is hella difficult. :P

Yup, using a mouse. And I definitely agree about the jitters, I had to do most of the lines about three times until I thought it looked good.

Trying to draw well using a mouse instead of a graphics tablet is like trying to do surgery with a brick instead of a scalpel.

Kobold looks good for being down via mouse by a guy used to doing pixel art.
