As much as I wish I could take credit for the forest, it's actually a photo. :( Sorry to disappoint. I did some minor editing (faking depth-of-field and changing some lighting) to make the picture work better with the character, but the exercise was really just learning how to use Pixar's geometric area lights and environmental lighting to match the lighting in a preexisting scene and cleaning it up in Photoshop.

Well! If you convinced Cheesecake and I it was a prerendered scene, you could say you succeeded, wouldn't you? :P

The angle at which the viewing split goes up from the front edge on the right should be sharper in that perspective, I believe.

Looks good regardless though. The metal texturing is very well done.

I spent the better part of five hours today designing a part for a restoration project. I'm making a part that didn't exist twenty years ago, but in the form and style that the original designers would have used. It's innately challenging, knowing that there are better ways of going about something, but having to stick to inferior levels of production tech. Not to mention trying to stick to the visual style of the original concepts.

This is going to be an absolute pain to craft, but it's a labor of love.

What is it?

I'm working with a few friends to build a US-legal replica of a revered '90's japanese rallycar (STi 22B). But, to meet US crash test requirements, we need a rear strut bar.

The 22B came with a front strut bar (top of the engine bay), but a rear was not needed. Hence me trying to build a rear-sized bar with the design precedent of the already-existing front.

During exams season, up till 12:00.. it IS half term though, I have two weeks... and its a Sunday... But I digress: made this for the Lets write a story Forum Game. Didn't post there before, just needed to let off steam and WRITE for a bit, which I should have done earlier X)

Still a stroy in itself, not at all just part of a larger whole, so fairly readable: not unintelligible stats or anything.

Warning: quite long

Wow. I'm editing my posts really carefully now... must just be in that mindset.
