Webcomiiiiiiiiiiiic

Cant do a webcomic without backgrounds!
Not actually true. You could do a webcomic without backgrounds. It wouldn't be as good as one with backgrounds though.

Do the webcomic anyway! Backgrounds not needed! Alternatively, find someone else to work with you and do the background part of the pictures.

The point of my comment was that I think that's not really "terrible" for a background. It's not very precise, but it's pretty and you don't really need to go full K6BD with ALL THE DETAIL. If you just redid the blimp with some more detail in your normal style, that would be an acceptable panel IMO.

Problem is if I ever do a comic, I want it to look similar to that.

Anyways here's another drawing of the plane I drew a while ago:

Drew a tree some Forumite posted some time before. I figure they won't mind it being reposted as, though I can't remember who it was, they'd already posted it themselves.

I've been drawing one thing per day for liek a year now and I still sucked, vast, so I'm not sure if it's really something worth doing.

Maybe make a goal from what you do--I've been sneakily following every tiny updoot, and it doesn't match 'suck' when I saw em. :P

I think you are underestimating the amount of casual practice an artist needs to improve. For example heres, my improvement during my first year of drawing:

Start of first year: http://imgur.com/RA1vQeU
Start of second year: http://imgur.com/Gbb49Dt

It certainly doesnt seem like I improved  lots during that year. If I compare your drawings from the thread start to the last ones,  I can certainly see more improvent than mine. You'll keep getting better, be sure of that.

I also want to say that if you want to improve faster, you should challenge yourself a bit more. Try different styles and mediums, instead of always doing digital and pencil. Try to do realism sometimes, try to immitate the drawings of some famous illustrators of your choosing.

At the very least make sure that everything you draw takes effort, things done effortlessly wont help you improve at all .

When I started about a year ago, I could just about draw a stick man.

I look up to this man.

I want to be this man some day.

But that day is not today.

Now, since Cinder and Vasta insist on being hard on themselves (and making the rest of us feel like untalented Trogs with meathooks in place of hands and half-clogged soup colanders in place of eyes, I have offered to do a one art a day thread so everyone can feel good about their artistic talent by comparison.

As in, a thread for yourself, or a thread for everyone?

As in, a thread for yourself, or a thread for everyone?

As in I would do a thread of one of my (dubiously termed) arts a day, in order to reassure the actually artistically talented people they are in fact good and should do a webcomic.

You can pitch in too. There will be no bounds of bad unplumbed.
