Tale of the elements RTD [Turn 2]
« on: January 07, 2012, 09:58:41 am »

I have never played a RTD before. But I have stayed around on these threads for about a week now, so I get the basic idea of how this works. You can check the rules and such to be safe, but this should be a standard RTD, nothing too fancy.

Spoiler: Background (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Rules and combat (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Character Profile (click to show/hide)

I will take 6 people to begin, and have a waitlist for those who wish to join after a previous hero dies in a fantastically bad way. You may reserve a slot while you think of a character and skills to take. Tell me what you think and let the RTD begin!

Spoiler: Character sheets (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Waitlist (click to show/hide)

Oh, and also post your first move, you can go North, South, East or West

Name: Andre Clearwater
Dynasty Weapon: "Trollbiter"-this humble small shortsword had served the Clearwater Family for generations, and is imbued with courage and strength inherited from the Halfling people. It got it's name when it was felled the Troll "Goliloth" in ancient times by the first Clearwater.

Spec/Ninja

Spells: Light and Nature
Bio: The Clearwater Family is less of a 'Dynasty' and more the often elected rulers of a loose collection of Halflings farming communities build around the River Rhune. Andre Clearwater, a humbling halfling druid and warrior, is the latest to take the mantle-he wears no crown, and has no hrand palace-but he commands the loyalty and love of his people all the same.

These days, the Anarchy has hit them even worse than most-since their lands are rich with food and wealth and have remained partially whole, many are seeking to pillage them and destroy what little civilization remains.

Andre has had enough-he took his ancestral blade from over the fire place, went out his round door and chose a direction...by closing his eyes and spinning in circles.

Action: We go North!

Name: Earl Farstrider

Dynasty Weapon: A Halberd, wooden shaft reinforced with steel, extreme sharp edged head with a pointed tip on the end of the pole similar to that of a spear. The pole has engravings of the highest craftsman-ship depicting some of the many battles its been involved in. Unlike other halberds this one has a specialised grip to allow the user to use it without hurting his hands. The only people to know the name of this great weapon where members of the family, with the last person who knew, Earls mother, passing away at his birth.  ATTACK

Spells: Light and Runic

Bio: Earl doesn't know much about his family, when he was born his mother died, his father out trying to find away to restore the once great fortress, he was looked after by the only remaining solider of the castle, or what remains of it, the walls had long since fallen and all that had survived whatever happened to it was the keep, luckily the keep was all that was required to keep themselves alive as the solider allowed travellers to stay in exchange for food and other necessities. Once Earl turned the age of 16 the solider began training him in the use of the family heirloom, A halberd crafted by some of the greatest blacksmiths, he was also taught the ways of using light defensibly and offensively and using the strength from his foes and turning it into runes as he attacked. He had soon had learnt everything the solider could teach him and he was ready to venture out into the world.

Heads east with the sun to his back.

In for my fore-fathers!

Name: Aidan Amarum
Dynasty Weapon: Morsibus, a fine Longsword, weathered by time, and passed down through generations. (Attack)
Spells: Frost and Shadow
Bio: A decendant of a great hero of past ages, Adrian's family was wronged and forced to survive by becoming hunters. While greatly humbled by this, Adrian's family retained Morsibus, their weapon, and trained the eldest of their children in the use of it, even though they had little need of it. Adrian was an only child, and his mother passed away in childbirth, and recently Adrian's father was killed by bandits. He took all of his personal belongings, and Morsibus, and made his way to the nearest castle, Splinterhold, which had been wiped out by one of the huge bandit groups that had been roaming around, and vowing to restore the honour of his family and the previous glory of the kingdom.

Southwards!

'Course with Dwarf Fortress, the only relevant question is, "How far away will the ASCII gibs splash on landing?"
5 squares per limb, if you raise the north orthoclase bridge before sacrificing one of them so they have a straight shot to the bottom of the chasm.

looks good.

Name: Matthias Drechburn
Dynasty Weapon: Single handed axe. ''Myth''.
Specialisation: Attack
Spells: Earth and Runic
Bio: A young man content with building and smithing for a living, when the anarchy struck he lost his family and home. His village lost, he traveled, finding a deserted castle. The walls were thin and crumbling and a small keep that wasn't even 3 stories high. In there, he found an axe of power, along with a book containing the history of the Drechburn family. A family that had at one time, a good kingdom an age ago. This was the last standing proof that the family once ruled before their fall. Now with that new information, Matthias sets out to bring together the kingdom once again, to provide security and well-being to his people, whoever they may be.

Head West.

Tiny question: If we do meet other castle owners, can we RP with them (for a storyline if you're alright with it)? The Dark Ages seem too bleak.

And are we magic wielding warriors?

Turn 1
We need a slogan!
For the record, each character starts with 15hp.
Action: We go North!
You go North and [2] encounter a monster (6hp). It is an elf, it looks rather weak, and constantly screams at you "Your castle has destroyed a forest! Prepare to die!"
Heads east with the sun to his back.
Eastward travel brings you to [3] a small cavern with a dark, menacing aura. Your light powers tell you to enter. As it turns out, the only monster in this entire cavern is a small gastropod (3hp). You believe a small hit or two will kill it no problem
For the King!
For the Land!
Edit: Tyrin acts to the West. Following the setting sun.
You head off to the west and find [5] a lost man on the ground (1hp). He has blood streaming from his hip. Upon asking, you realize he was attacked by thieves. He then claims to have a hidden rune somewhere off to the South. He then warns you however:
"A small but worthy rune lies South of here. But be wary, for the thieves or something greater may have found it by now"
You have to wonder if he is telling the truth. You know that one simple hit will kill him.
In for my fore-fathers!
Southwards!
Going south, [2] you completely forget about winter! You remember that all bears go south for the winter. It is common sense really... too late (bear, 6hp)
looks good.
Head West.
You admire the land and believe all is good. But enough faffing about, heading west reveals [5] a small treasure map. It is confirmed that there is something of value to the North-West of here. Going North for a bit, then West should reveal something of grand value. But you are unsure what it is.
Name: Chin Le Yang
Dynasty Weapon: "Light of Shadow", Is a Katana passed down to him from his Father. This weapon had existed for hundreds of years going back to his Great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.
Spells: Darkness, Earth
Bio: Chin Le Yang's people were drove from their lands many years ago, and his father, such a great man as he was, managed to keep them united despite the lack of land, and true home. His Father taught Chin Le from a very young age the arts of swordsmanship, leadership, and magic, this training made Chin Le a natural leader, and a great warrior, but by the he became king many of his people had already died off, or left and setter lands. Now Chin Le wishes to forge a empire, bring back people, and put back together that which was lost many years ago.
Chin Le Yang found his weapon and decided to go North! He found [1] a gigantic Earth Golem! (10hp)! Now he has done it...

Spoiler: character status (click to show/hide)

Tiny question: If we do meet other castle owners, can we RP with them (for a storyline if you're alright with it)? The Dark Ages seem too bleak.

And are we magic wielding warriors?
Absolutely! The reason the background is so short is because I wanted the players to add to it. As you progress through the adventure, the background from the first post will change, making a dynamic story.

As it turns out, there was one spell that everyone knew, except for castle owners. They were stuck in their big buildings of stone, unaware of the world around them. Using their magical powers, the castle owners sensed a third aura, one none of them knew existed...
A seventh tier of magic has been given to everyone, psychic! You can use it to send messages to anyone, and they can send one back! However, since everyone in the entire land seems to be aware of the psychic aura, it cannot be used as an attack!

And yes, you are magic wielding warriors who decided to stop the anarchy and advance through the dark times. However, you are unaware of what the source is, nor what is guarding it. As you grow in power, you hope that one day you will be the one remembered for saving the world from anarchy.
