News: You can now make nations, and now you can only spawn in your own town, and other towns in your nation.

Also: In addition to towns claiming land, individual users can also claim plots (up to a maximum of 16). I noticed so far that no one is claiming land and so now towns PAY money to plot owners. The money paid is 50x(Number of plots owned) and is paid out once per (real life) day. This means the price of a new town was undervalued and it now costs 1000 to start a new town, 2000 for a new nation.

Well, if anyone does come on to play; come visit Markov and its Nightmare forest. The forest comes back denser and more distorted with every attempt at clearing it. I've tried chopping them down, burning them, and even resorted to TNT but that just created even more twisted abominations.

Now the canopy is so thick that monsters can survive in the day, and during the night creepers and other monsters will jump on you from the treetops.

Hey, burning it was pretty effective for Petrov's Shard. Speaking of which, please don't destroy it, it's a good landmark/combat grinding zone.

Yay for map corruption. For the second time I had to bring the server down because of chunk corruption. The first time I ran MCEdit which only seemed to delay the problem. This time I'm going to run Chunkster. The chunk error looks like this:

19.01 07:00:38 [Server] SEVERE Chunk (-61, 24) stored at  (-49, 26) in world 'world'

So it's happening at a location that's pretty far from the centre of the world (Pointzero is at 0,0).

I think I know where that spot is.

In one end of the Nightmare Forest, I encountered a gigantic square hole that (Seemed to) go all the way down into nothingness. I was still able to interact with the world so it obviously wasn't lag; I wrote it off as a map load error and restarted.

Otherwise, I just dug into the stronghold moments before you popped in and said we needed to restart the server, perhaps it's related?

That huge hole is the trouble spot. It causes the log file to grow exponentially and causes lag. Last time, the log file was 700 megs before the server crashed and wouldn't restart. :S

Was there anything in that location before?

Not that I know of, other than the hole itself there wasn't anything that shed any light to what was there.

It's my fault for letting it get that big. I figured I could let the error slide because there were no visible problems and people were on and not reporting any problems... I didn't see that the error was repeating itself like 10 times per second. :S

In other news, the server is now back up.
