Sooo.. this is going on right now?

 five quest issues, around thirty miscellaneous issues, map maintenance, optimization of the new stuff, sponsorship critters and incorporation of Baughn's fixes to the SDL stuff.

Map maintenance may still in progress -- he's only mentioned "mulling it over on paper" so far -- but otherwise yeah.

What does map maintenace realy mean? Maintenace of world gen maps?

I think it means attempting to make the upcoming format for city maps forward-compatible.  That could be entirely wrong, though.

It could be, for example, better handling changes to map, like flow, pathfinding, cave-in code, etc. Or making smaller memory footprint. Or whatever. Too little data to know.

More giant animals means better choice for my dwarf mode arena. If I can bag a giant octopus or squid then my fortress aquarium is going to be even more entertaining than the time I captured a bunch of sharks.

Yeah but there are no "fricking lasers on theyr fricking forheads".

I think the dcission to include all Animals left on the sponsorship list was atleast disputable. I for nce would have taken them out of this update and would have made a dedicated update just for them instead of cramming in theyr special tokens etc. later.
