Mining for fish? A new type of elf trap? Water blocks?

Mining a river dry?
I think the edge of the map would continue spawning water. I actually built a temperate ice fortress by mining the river every winter.

Not if you just use a bridge/floodgate/door :D

Well that's more damming the river than mining it and making dams isn't very dorfy.

What? Destroying eco systems to power magma mines? NONSENSE!!!!

Also, mining a river dry is a valid option in temperate maps with a helluva lot of rain.

Yeah, nothing you can do beyond magma/freeze damming. So just make a slab and engrave unless you have plans for the dam later;p

Note, you can pump out the water from around the corpse, and put a ramp/stairs down to it, but in 0.31.25 this makes the body disappear, so you can't tell if pumping has moved it from its original location. If pumping can't move submerged objects, which I don't know if it can, this is what I'd recommend

Funny thing. Magma plus water equals wall. Mamga needs mining. Magma in a river= mined dry.
