It would be neat if, like fish-tank snails, these ones would clean up (and thus, "eat") all contaminates in their tile, leaving behind only slime (or water, if it is in water and is an aquatic snail).  This would be a good use for them, especially when we start getting more dangerous blood transmissible diseases floating about in our underground slaughter halls.

Some dye producing snails could be interesting creating Tyrian purple. Also shouldnt your snails lay eggs? (the leathery kind mayhaps?)

Well I wasn't quite ready to necro this thread yet, but since Heph has beaten me to it...

I have updated versions of NonconsensualSurgery's snails just about ready for publication on my home computer. I would have posted them a week ago but ran into shell-related problems which I only confirmed this morning. I'll post them after work.

A millable snail is an interesting concept. Let me rattle that around in my head a little. (Also, I have some custom, waxy-shelled eggs I use for insects, but I was assuming NonconsensualSurgery knew more about snail reproduction than I and had them giving live birth for a reason.)

EDIT: I'm actually working on the dyes idea right now, so it'll take a little longer before I post :).

I've made tiles for opium and cavern snails:

May I use them in Genesis Reborn? I love them.

Would it be possible to make cleaner snails? (aka snails that clean their tile) Such a thing would be very useful penned up around my wells.

They're not mine to give permission for, but the OP made it clear he was OK with the community messing with them, so go ahead I assume?

P.S. Can we use your snail tiles without using GR? They are adorable.

I thought about this for a couple days, and was about to say I couldn't think of any way to do this, but then as I was typing it I thought of something. It should be possible for a creature to secrete an UNDIRECTED_VAPOR_FLOW of water mist. This might clean up blood and most contaminants, but also might spread mud, which would allow cave fungus to grow, which could deface engravings etc. I just had the idea so I haven't tested it yet.

AND OF COURSE the modified raws I promised.

I'm still working on the vermin snails and possibly Murex snails for purple dye in the future. I'm still working on getting the milling reaction to work right. But here's everything else.

Bumping to let anyone who picked this up know that I fixed a problem in the body_snail definition. I didn't know that
Code: [Select]
[LEFT] and
Code: [Select]
[RIGHT] had BBCode definitions, so those tags were missing from the animal person upper body. They are there again now.

Deon, I love you.

I wouldn't mind a snail that left a constant train of cleaning water behind it, I don't have wells in my meeting hall. So it isn't a bother. I'd probably chain one up by my well.
