I guess I'm the only one that waits until all of the stones have been brought to the mining pile before setting down building plans!

I've got hundreds of stones lying around my fortress and the stockpile is already humongous anyway. Would waste valuable time getting 'em all in one place.

That's going to come back to haunt you, you know.  Eventually you'll need stone for something, and your dwarves will have to run and fetch it anyway.
