Now that I've done the obligatory haiku, time to dive in! Best day for the release, too; I was feeling pretty down today. Thanks Toady! You go get some rest, or rather: party like a starving Broker in caravan season!

It's almost 5:00 am here, I have two assignments due tomorrow, but who cares about any of that, the new release is finally here!!

It's a my first world, trying out adventure mode after a quick peak at legends and playing a dragon in the arena. I wander around my starting town, looking through random (furnished and varied!) houses, accusing random peasants of being night creatures, but I stop in my tracks when I see it. There in the middle of town, providing the entire village with water is a well entirely encased in pitchblende blocks.

Worldgen did seem sorta slow.

I got sent after my first werecreature. I was a bit nervous since it was supposedly only vulnerable to steel, which I was not armed with. I then showed up at its lair, noticed that it was a peasant, and proceeded to smack it silly with a copper mace since it was daytime. Werebeast hunting is apparently easy during the day.

It seems fun so far. I'm looking forward to seeing a werebeast at night, exploring a sewer, and finding a necromancer.

Aaargh, just when I'm about to head to uni. 
Ah well, something to look forward to this evening.

I was sent into the catacombs to find and kill a murderous dwarf. After exploring a little I discovered that the things are damned huge!

After a little searching I found the bodies of lots of kobolds. After backtracking and exploring 20 different passageways and statue filled rooms I found a nest of live kobolds including a spearmaster and a elite crossbow kobold, I martial tranced and took out most of them but then took an arrow to the face shattering my skull. I became rather weak at that point and was I assume pummeled to death by the 2 koblod's still alive but it stopped giving me reports after I lost consciousness.

So kobolds live through world gen and they hang out in catacombs now... There was a surprising amount of armor and treasure in there, all to big for my dwarf to wear.

Interesting notes from adventure mode:

When I was ambushed by bogeymen, stray dogs and pigs joined the fight on my side and made things much easier.
You can apparently retire mid-battle while in the catacombs.
