We're too late, Obama signed ACTA
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:26:07 am »

http://www.infowars.com/obama-signs-global-internet-treaty-worse-than-sopa/

I really hope this isn't true, or there was some sort of mistake.  After what we just did with SOPA, Obama seriously turns around and signs ACTA?!

It's not like his unilaterally signing it was legal anyway, they'll probably end up forcing it to go through Congress.

I was under the impression this was signed months ago.
Currently Australia is also signed up. I know some activists who are sending letters and emails to relevant political figures in pretty much all parties asking for them to oppose this bill, myself included.
The hope is that if we can get the greens in on it because it is evil, and the liberals in because it is something labour did and they will do anything for votes, we would have a majority and could over turn the treaty, at least here.
Without Australia, the US would be closer to backing out, and then the entire thing topples over.

Wish me luck!

This conversation will probably be more productive if it's more chill. Saying you'll kill whoever supports it is not very chill, and I find it ironic that you'll say that while censoring "bullshit".

Gillard, for starters. Most likely Abbot, because Abbot. I trust Brown to have some common sense, but I'm not going to place money on it.
And it isn't a good idea, but they did it.

I thought abbots life mission was to heartily oppose everything that Gillard stands for.  I really have to start watching tv again.

Only for things that make it onto the public stage.
Take this to the public stage, and he will most likely fight tooth and nail against it.

Now, more than ever I wish Australia wasn't the USA's bitch.

I remember an article where we turned down some Russian naval recon aircraft (complete with a Russian funded airbase built for us, by local contractors) so that we could take some American dog fighters.

Oh Obama, you just went from a "meh" president to a "you're ruining our country" president in my eyes.

Good luck Aussies, you may have the fate of the world in your hands along with the dudes in the EU.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Like I said, we are doing all we can.
I am under the impression that changing your mind in anyway in a capital punishment over there in the US for any political figure, and while it tends to get attacked over here to, you can get away with it as long as you use the word 'reform' enough.
Who knows, if we get our guys to back down, it might just be a weak link... Or at least that it what I hope. Australia and the US seem pretty close.

Wow, that... wow. That came out of nowhere. I'm not really sure what to do anymore.

Perhaps we should carve ourselves out an emergency fortress in case Bay12 gets nuked at some point? Not that it's at all likely, but... still.

Think of it like Sim City, except with rival mayors that seek to destroy your citizens by arming legions of homeless people and sending them to attack you.

I'll get started on some pixel art, hopefully somebody around here is good at drawing for those that are after a truly retro avatar.

Recently Obama admitted he'd made mistakes all the time and that he regretted them.

I hope he realizes that this was one of them  ::)
