Let’s Play The Sims 3: Touhou Edition.
Hey there everydwarf and welcome to my first attempt of a Let's Play. I do hope you enjoy this as much as I will and I shall be eager to listen to any comments and criticisms you level my way.
Due to the nature of this Let's Play, there may be quite a few references to aspects of the fandom or other obscure things, like here we have references to Cacame, Captain Ironblood and !!FUN!!. Viewer discretion is required.

I realise that there’s already 3 (possibly only 2 now) Let’s Play’s of The Sims 3, but what was severely lacking was the amount of Touhou. Plus I've been playing it a fair bit and I can't think of any other games right now that I could do. I have The Sims 3 base as well as World Adventures, I might get some of the other expansions, but we'll see.
For those of you not familiar with it, Touhou is a series of bullet hell games created by “Team Shanghai Alice” consisting of one man, Zun. Known for the games difficulty, large cast of characters and huge amounts of fan created content; it is sometimes said that if it exists, there is a Touhou version of it.
Even for Dwarf Fortress, there exists the mod Suika Fortress, replacing the dwarves with drunken oni, Suika Ibuki. (Sadly, I don't have a clothes mod for her)
After a long time of searching I’ve found a set of clothing mods that add Touhou characters to The Sims 3, and have since added them and divided most of them up into households. I’ve long toyed with the idea of performing a Let’s Play, so I can’t think of a better time to go through with it then the present.
Below is a list of the characters by household that I have clothes for, as well as traits, and a link to their respective Wiki character page. This list is also how I’ve organised them in game. I’m leaving it up to all of you to tell me which household to focus on (I might focus on one household for each in game week, switching between them)
::NOTE: Please don’t feel that you are obliged to read all of the below. It is a lot of information and I can completely understand not wanting to read all of it. In fact, I feel it would make things more interesting if those unfamiliar with the setting made suggestions as well::
(Note that since official material on the characters personalities is rather limited, I’ve taken the liberty of adding traits in line with how the fandom generally depicts them.)

Touhou Cloth and hair mods (Note that some of the clothes are restricted to certain ages. Also, things like wings and hats are under accessories, the single pair of shoes is Keine’s.)
The above clothes mods doesn't require any of the expansions for The Sims 3.
To download the above mods, the password "touhou" (Without quotes) has to be entered into the appropriate box. This goes for all of them, including the ones not related to Touhou.
Touhou is property of Zun.
Any artwork I use is property of Alphes (of Tasogare Frontier, except for a few which are done by fans mimicking his/her style.

Age: Young Adult
Traits: Brave, Friendly, Frugal, Hot-headed, Mooch.
Short Bio: Reimu is the main character of Touhou. The human Shrine Maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, she stars in nearly all of the games. Personality wise she seems to be good natured but independent, doing things her own way and paying little heed to others. Fandom cranks up the fact that her shrine doesn’t get many donations to the point where she is greedy for money, lives in near poverty and beats up youki with little provocation.
Kirisame Household:

Age: Young Adult.
Traits: Bookworm, Charismatic, Commitment Issues, Flirty, Kleptomaniac.
Short Bio: The main sub character of Touhou. Marisa is an Ordinary Magician who lives in a house in the Forest of Magic. She is also independent and headstrong, likes showy magic as well as “borrowing” items. She is also Human, like Reimu.
Fandom tends to depict Marisa as something of a “player”, giving her relations with Alice and/or Patchouli.
Margatroid Household:

Age: Young Adult.
Traits: Genius, Loner, Hopeless Romantic, Hot-headed, Unflirty.
Short Bio: Also lives in the Forest of Magic. Alice is a magician who has become powerful enough to become a Youkai. Her magic nearly always involves the usage of puppet like dolls, taking advantage of her great dexterity. Somewhat of a loner who dislikes interruptions to her study.
Fandom depicts her as obsessing over Marisa, and sometimes gives her a “creepy” edge.

Age: Teen
Traits: Hates the Outdoors, Bookworm, Computer Whizz, Inappropriate.
Short Bio: Kaguya was a Lunarian princess from the moon orbiting Earth. She is also immortal due to drinking an elixir and as such is at least 1300 year old. Came to earth with Eirin Yagokoro and lives in Eientei which is located in the middle of a mazelike bamboo forest. Fandom depicts her as a reclusive geek, reading comics and playing computer games all the time. Has a rivalry with Fujiwara no Mokou.

Age: Adult
Traits: Bookworm, Neat, Perfectionist, Workaholic, Genius.
Short Bio: Has genius level intelligence as well as being able to produce a large number of medicines. She was exiled along with Kaguya when Kaguya became immortal. Possibly immortal herself, she is at least around 1500 years old.

Age: Young Adult.
Traits: Unlucky, Clumsy, Friendly, Handy, No Sense of Humour.
Short Bio: A lunar rabbit. Reisen came to Earth after the lunar “invasion” of 1969. She ended up in Eientei and now works as an apprentice of Eirin.
Her power is to induce lunacy in mortals with her eyes. In contrast with this she is described as having a very balanced personality.

Traits: Lucky, Inappropriate, Loves the Outdoors.
Short Bio: An earth rabbit who has lived long enough to become an Youkai. Tewi is at least 1300 years old and is the leader of the normal earth rabbits at Eientei. Might actually own the mansion of Eientei. She is depicted as a deceitful, liar who likes to play pranks and scams on others, often targeting Reisen.

Age: Young Adult.
Traits: Pefectionist, Genius, Friendly, Neat, Bookworm.
Short Bio: Kiene is a were hakutaku who can hide history in her human form, and create history in her hakutaku form.
She is described as being a schoolteacher for a village of humans as well as their protector. Is a friend of Mokou.

Age: Teen.
Traits: Hot-headed, Mean-spirited, Brave, Loner (and hidden Pyromaniac)
Short Bio: Mokou is another immortal due to drinking the Hourai elixir like Kaguya. Has a deep hatred of Kaguya due to Mokou’s father being turned down for marriage of Kaguya when she sent him on an impossible artefact collection. Since then they have fought and killed each other countless times, only to resurrect again. Has the ability to create and resist fire. Her personality is described as shifting between friendly and threatening.
Scarlet Devil Mansion:

Traits: Over-emotional, Insane, Hot-headed.
Short Bio: The Scarlet sisters Remilia and Flandre are both vampires who came to Gensokyo along with the rest of their mansion and servants. Remilia is the older sister of Flandre and is around 500 years old (though looks about 10). Remilia is described as being childlike despite her age, acting spoilt and superior to others though still with a vampiric air of charisma. However, she deeply cares for her sister.
Flandre is the younger sister (about five years younger) of Remilia. Has power far greater than Remilia and is able to destroy anything by moving their “eye” into the palm of her hand. Due to this she has spent most of her life in the cellar of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (willingly) and has very little experience with others. Is described as being insane and unable to control her emotions.
NOTE:: Due to me not having Late Night expansion, the sisters aren't actually vampires. I don't know how disruptive it would be to smooth play (what with having to drink blood plasma fruit and sunlight weakness), suggestions welcome.

Age: Young Adult.
Traits: Bookworm, Loner, Genius, Hates the Outdoors, No Sense of Humour.
Short Bio: A witch who has inhabited the library of the Scarlet Devil Mansion for around 100 years. She is a master of 5 elements and has an incredible head for knowledge. However, due to her lifestyle of staying inside a dusty library, she is rather frail of health, sometimes unable to recite her spells.
Fandom depicts her as being quiet and withdrawn.

Short Bio: Uh, very little is given on Koakuma. She doesn’t even have a proper name (Koakuma meaning Little Devil) is usually thought to be an assistant to Patchouli, and is described as being impish and mischievous.

Traits: Handy, Neat, Perfectionist, Natural Cook, Unflirty.
Short Bio: The head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Sakuya has the ability to stop and start time. Her attacks involve the usage of throwing knives. She is often depicted by the fandom as being a no nonsense type of person, but officially she has a more carefree, slightly ditzy personality.

Traits: Athletic, Brave, Heavy Sleeper, Friendly, Clumsy.
Short Bio: A chinese themed youkai. She is the gatekeeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion as well as the gardener. A practitioner of martial arts, she is often depicted by the fandom as being a slacker who often sleeps on the job. Is often paired with Sakuya, and often abused (stabbed with knives) by Sakuya.
Yakumo Household:
( I tried to represent the fact that Ran and Chen are shikigami, so Chen is the daughter of Ran and Ran is the sister (I couldn’t choose daughter) of Yukari. If it bugs people I can change it).

Traits: Genius, Flirty, Charismatic, Heavy Sleeper, Friendly.
Short Bio: A youkai who’s power is the manipulation of boundaries. She is a genius who spends most of her time sleeping away centuries. Has a carefree and flakey personality but is possibly the most powerful youkai in Gensokyo.
Fandom shows her as acting childlike and using her border manipulation to create portals to get around. Also usually has her paired with Reimu Hakurei.

Age: Young Adult.
Traits: Genius, Family Orientated, Handy, Natural Cook, Neat.
Short Bio: A 9 tailed kitsune (Fox), Ran is the shikigami (think familiar) of Yukari. She, along with her master, is also a genius, able to perform staggeringly complex mathematical equations in her head.
Fandom depicts her as obsessing over her shikigami Chen as to how cute she is.

Traits: Clumsy, Hydrophobic, Loves the Outdoors.
Short Bio: Chen is a 2 tailed nekomata (Cat youkai) and the shikigami (again, like a familiar) of Ran Yakumo. Her personality is childlike and she spends her time training stray cats to follow her lead. Both her normal and cat form have a distaste for water as it weakens her power.

Short Bio: A youkai of winter. Letty spends most of the time asleep until winter comes around. She has manipulation of cold and is often shown to have a likewise cold personality.
Fandom sometimes depicts her as the mother of Cirno.

Traits: Brave, Inappropriate, Stupid (Added by Awesomemod, unsure what it actually does though, seemed more appropriate then Genius)
Short Bio: An Ice Fairy, Cirno is depicted as being an idiot who thinks she’s far stronger than she really is (Though she is very strong for a fairy). Manipulation of cold is her power and she likes to spend her time freezing frogs and watching them thaw again, though she sometimes drops them, shattering the poor frog. As a fairy she is immortal and has a rather reckless, simple and childlike personality.
Fandom (along with Zun) call her an idiot (baka) and she has gained the label of ⑨ (or Nineball).

Short Bio: A character with less official information than Koakuma. Daiyousei (Big Fairy) is a midboss just before Cirno. Fandom depicts her as the friend of Cirno.

Traits: Absent Minded, Easily Impressed, Excitable.
Short Bio: A youkai of darkness. Her ability is to create a sphere of darkness around herself, causing her to bump into trees due to not being able to see.
Fandom depicts her with her arms outstretched and often saying “so nanoka?” (Is that so?). Childlike and eager to eat humans.

Short Bio: Mystia is a Nightbird youkai who can invoke confusion and terro in humans by singing, she can also invoke blindness in humans. Her personality is described as being egocentric. Also runs a grilled eel stand.

Traits: Loves the Outdoors, Vegetarian, Genius.
Short Bio: A youkai with power over insects. Wriggle is usually depicted as being more level headed then the other members of Team ⑨ (Cirno, Daiyousei, Mystia, Rumia and Wriggle).
Fandom likes to make fun of the fact that her outfit makes her look androgynous.
Hakugyokurou Household:

Short Bio: A Ghost youkai who became a ghost after committing suicide. Yuyuko is a friend of Yukari and is often depicted as having an airy, light hearted personality who seems to be always concerned about the wrong things. She, along with Youmu, live in a mansion in the netherworld. Her power is to invoke death in mortals.

Traits: Neat, Perfectionist, Green Thumb, Natural Cook.
Short Bio: A half-ghost youkai, Youmu is the gardener/caretaker of Hakugyokurou, serving her mistress Yuyuko. She is often shown to have a more level, serious personality then that of Yuyuko. She is skilled in the usage of her two swords.

:::Note:: The households that you don’t choose I’ll place down into the neighbourhood where they can fit. Thankfully the computer AI isn’t bothered by things like a lack of beds or no income so they should be fine until we get around to them.
On the actual Let's Play: I was thinking of doing it in the usual update style, where the viewers can choose the characters jobs, actions and motives. I'll work with what you present me and add some dialog to go along with what happens.
