So my armorer just created artifact greaves out of lead. Is this any good?

The general DF rule is:

Would it be good in real life?

(answer):

I think a iron butter knife could cut through it, but punches would be epic.

I'm actually curious to know the answer.  Supposedly it gets a 3x bonus to deflect blows, but what that means exactly is pretty ambiguous to me.  If something metal does land a hit, it won't do the dwarf wearing it much good.

And presumably it weighs a ton, so he'll be slow.  But he'll be styling wherever he goes.

Lead is one of the softest metals. So regular bronze will still out perform it.

Lead greaves are what i call execution, you stick em on your mayor and throw him in a pool.

Trust me. You don't wanna know what he's been doing with that masterwork pitchblende scepter. (The one with the knob on the end.) No. Don't wanna know.

A wizards staff has a knob on the end. And apparently so does the Consorts marital aid.

Guess where the thing about witches flying on brooms came from? I'll give a hint: it has something to do with slathering the end with a strong hallucinogen made from belladonna.

The worst part is that right next to the lead in my stockpile was a bunch of iron. At least I got a legendary armorer out of it.

Bella donna gets its name from its historic use as a beauty aid, as the juice from the berries was dripped into the eyes to cause the pupils to dialate.

That said.... a song comes to mind....

"Raven hair and ruby lips
sparks fly from her finger tips
Echoed voices in the night
she's a restless spirit on an endless flight
wooo hooo witchy woman, see how high she flies
woo hoo witchy woman she got the moon in her eye"

To the contrary, lead greaves will provide the lucky owner with an excellent radiation shield to protect his dwarfhood.

As implied earlier... only from the front.

It does noting to protect his little friends when the source of the radiation is more.....intimate.
