Coffee!   Strong coffee!   And if the dwarfs don't get coffee....nothing really happens.  They just go back to beer or rum.

every dwarf that drinks coffee instead of beer improves your FPS by 1.
every dwarf that drinks beer instead of coffee adds a moderate amount of screen shake.
every dwarf that drinks water instead of either beer or coffee quits your fortress in disgust.

due to a mysterious fungal infection, 1/23 Giant Cave Spiders explode in a massive fireball upon death. This fungal infection can be transferred to victims through their venom.

Tarot cards so dwarfs spend hours debating what the cards mean about their future and past lives.  And the cards give the Elfs one more reason to get pissed off because the cards are made out of paper which was once a lovely tree.

Tarot cards actually aren't an inherently terrible suggestion. Would be cool IMO to see them implemented as another form of divination.

Tarot cards actually aren't an inherently terrible suggestion. Would be cool IMO to see them implemented as another form of divination.

Perhaps have new (non-fortress mode) professions like shamans, witches, etc to go along with them.
And prophets should write books of prophecies.

If a tree is ever cut down all elves should go into a blind rage and attack everything around them even other elves, there is no way to stop the rage once it starts.

Orkin men should form mercenary companies during world gen and fortresses hire them to get rid of vermin.

Add possibility for adventureres to increase their equipment, attribute and skill points every time they level up a skill or make notable kill, so they can enter special shop screen at any moment during the game to get better armor or rise attributes or even gain special properties like rising in size or turning their body adamantine or tokens like [WEBIMMUNE] or [FIREIMMUNE_SUPER].

If an adventurer tries to steal from a shop by using a pickaxe to dig downward, the shopkeeper should grab the adventurers pack.
