Author Topic: Can't start as a Hero/Chosen adventurer in conquered holding sites?  (Read 161 times)

I generated a world wanting to play as a dwarven adventurer, Chosen if i could, but i found out i could not as the sites with temples had no dwarves, only humans, gobs and elves.

I made note of which sites had temples, made a fort, and after a few years conquered them, annexing them to the dwarven civilization of my site. I retired the fort in a separate save and checked if i could start a dwarf then, but i could start as neither Hero nor Chosen from any of those sites, only as ordinary.

I figured it was an issue with the fact i just annexed them, so i went back and continued the fort for a few years, conquering most sites on the continent i was on.

I just retired that fort and while trying to start as a hero or chosen i noticed that my choices had been even further reduced, as i could not start as Hero or Chosen in any site i had conquered previously.

Is this intended? Is it bugged? Can i fix it? Should i give up on starting as a Dwarven civilization and Dwarven race Hero or Chosen adventurer in this world?

chosen and heroic kinda prevent dwarven fortresses from being played, you need to conquer a dwarven hilltop as a human civ to even get the chance to play them.
player forts are considered dwarven fortresses and also removed from play(so that route kinda is also lock off some how).
ordinary currently set up for letting folks play as dwarves in dwarven settlements(mostly set up like it was before the difficulty changes removing dwarven starts happen) with the idea of them agreeing to get lost in their structures, playing a dwarf is harder thus deem not fit for beginning play which heroic and chosen is set up to do.

also the destiny options are set up as 'easier but restricted to free-form but direction-less'  I remember this is separate from the easier and harder difficulty options which just point total limitations which was the old difficulty settings.

also you totally should just give up starting as a dwarven civ for chosen, dwarven species might require some extra work for heroic but that one requires like law enforcement to exist for the civ and also hillocks.
you could just make an ordinary dwarf adventurer, retire them then make a chosen/heroic adventurer and unretire the dwarf so you can swap over to play as them
but the chosen/heroic perks don't carry over to the other adventurers.

oh yeah dwarven adventurers also have to deal with cave adaptation sickness
