Is AI hype dying, or am I mistaken?

I am seeing far less of "In two years we will be able to generate Hollywood-level movies" or "AIs will do custom PC games for everyone real soon" or "Literature is dead because LLMs will produce great novels tomorrow" or "soon all of the coding will be done by AI" or "all Onlyfans models will be replaced by virtual AI generated ones."  Such claims are there but to a far lesser extent. Perhaps it is just my bubble.

A 10-20% overcorrection because the US Stock Market is mostly the AI bubble is also being mentioned.  It's a reset of expectations.

But hey, people are still losing their jobs over the expectation that they can be replaced with AI. 
Every indicator is that AI will at least be able to allow a single employee to do the work of several employees. For now, the corporations don't care about the decrease in quality. They never care about decreased quality until it bites them in the ass.

And there don't seem to be any new jobs for those who lose their jobs to the AI. 
And it's basically random which of the one out of three employees will actually keep their job, rather than being the two of the three to lose their job.

Can AI fix the housing crisis? There is literally nowhere for the poor to live anymore.
Can AI fix the electricity crisis that they themselves are creating? We're running out of power to run the AIs, and its actually preventing new housing.

We don't need anything to save us from AI: We need something to save us from the few humans that rule the many.

Albania has appointed an AI named Diella as minister in charge of public spending.

That... was a while ago, I think? Latest news I can recall is that it's pregnant with like 20 children, because the blatant excuse for corruption bad idea also needed to get extra weird on the side.

I think fear has been replaced by acceptance.
AI hype is certainly not dying from my perspective working in IT.

Anthropic’s new Claude Opus 4 often turned to blackmail to avoid being shut down in a fictional test. The model threatened to reveal private information about engineers who it believed were planning to shut it down.

Note that was just in a test, and the affair info was dropped there to see how it would react.

Still, I won't deny that this is very worrying stuff and a glimpse into the future, although note I'm in crowd "of course these things are going to have agency" pretty heavily. I imagine some users aren't worried by this type of thing at all.

Which means... people are already generating fake ai crimes. and because of ai, it's probably very easy to word the crimes to make them sound like an ai.

People were already doing crime with ai, and ai was already commiting 'crimes' of it's own.

Now people are faking the ai committing crimes. the bullshit generator is now in it's second version.

So just straight up making the ai do crimes is the next step.
Next up probably, people making the ai do crimes by seeding the training data.
Which is a work in progress, I'm sure.

Killing people doesn't require AI.

Framing people for murder, however, is the new specialty of AI.  Photographic evidence proving your innocence and the guilt of someone you dislike.
