So, what I am getting from this is... Classic Turkish entitlement and mafia boss behavior. Nothing new.

What's the purpose, though? A single mayor. A single consulate building. Is it vanity? Because they can? I wouldn't put it past erdogan and his cronies. Is it some convoluted and very much braindead scheme to bolster foreign influence?

I dunno. Adams was part of a crop of leadership in the Democrat party at the local and state level that were running in ways that were unusual at the time, as the base had just completed large popular protests against some of the things they frequently became associated with. I presumed at the time it was a political reaction to the slight possibility Bernie Sanders type Democrats would do well. Much of this counter-reform policy is now to some degree a part of the centrist/moderate position on for example the border, crime, security corruption, gambling, marihuana sale gatewaying, green-slowing, whacky internet regulation, and maybe now crypto which by the way is somehow money for Russia since very recently, I'd have to dig up my link to remember the details. In fact Adams seemed like he was part of a wider faction of Democrats, which to an outsider like me, seemed like they may be taking advantage of the situation with Trump and the necessity of course of action.

I can't remember if that was one of the primaries with ~19 candidates or not which seemed like was the primary of the day. I never thought I'd miss that! NYC is also basically the unofficial capital of the Democratic party, along with housing the great big stock exchange and the UN building IIRC, and lots of excellent New Yorkers who are basically everywhere judging from those Yankees caps.

So, I think I want to talk about the recent Kartalkaya Hotel Fire. 78 people dead. Yep. 78 fucking people. In a hotel fire. How, you may ask? Well, let me fucking tell you!

It is a string of classic Turkish wolf-fuckery. Hotel is checked by the municipality. No fire stairs. No escapes. Absolutely nothing that will save people in case of a fire. This is written as such and reported. Hotel calls the inspection again, requesting that they check on the cafe section of the hotel. No problems found in the cafe. The intention is clear. The cafe is part of the hotel. The owners try to half-ass a technicality and try to save themselves from the utterly crushing, financial-ruin-guaranteeing responsibility of installing some fucking sprinklers. The hotel is majority made of wood. Fire occurs. No exits. No preventions. People either suffocate from the smoke, or throw themselves and/or their children off of windows with the small hope that their skulls won't shatter when they hit the ground. A significant amount do. Ropes made of clothes and sheets hang from windows all around.

In short; actual hell on earth.

The hotel is not some shoddy, no name place either. Staying there costed a fuckton of money. Nightly. So no excuse for not having as much as a fire escape.

Everyone is bouncing blame like it is volleyball. erDOGan made statement about ''not politicising the incident.'' Because the hotel owner was a crony of his. Everyone in associated goverment fucnctions has their skirts catch fire as people look to blame someone. There was an attempt to shift the blame to municipality, but hotel management and safety enforcement falls under Ministry of Tourism. But the media, which are dogs to erDOGan, focus the attention on the mayor. Because the Minister of Tourism is also an underling.

So yeah... Oh and also, this year is supposed to be the ''family year'' according to erDOGan, something about ''defending family values and resisting LGBT'' or whatever the fuck. I was too busy being queer to listen.
