The way erdog manages the local politics is very insidious. But also remarkably simple.

Any major figure you hear of? Incompetent fools, or erdogs cronies. He makes sure to block, intimidate, or straight up eliminate anyone who may pose a threat to him. Example A: Ekrem İmamoğlu. Was too popular, so was taken in with a bullshit excuse and a circus act of an investigation that picked at so many straws, the entire swamp got flattened.

Only people he allows the voices of are people like Kemal Kılıēdaroğlu or Muarrem İnce. A complete pacifist who has been made a black goat for literal decades for being Shia muslim, and spineless, cowardly little shit who sells anything for money, respectively. As in, impotent punching bags he can knock down for show. Especially Kılıēdaroğlu. It is a soft dictatorship after all. He allows the elections to happen, and just controls the selections to make sure he is the ''best'' candidate, always. I mean, hell, the parliament keeps getting into fistfights once every three gatherings. The system intentionally selects for these types.
