what have they been feeding the goats... they are bigger than the elephants?!

nice screens. ya the copper cladding over the mechanisms was sort of incomplete, mostly for show n so on. I knew that most of the sieging forces were not bringing building destroyers so I felt pretty safe with that design but no one expects the werechinchilla lord consort

Okay, i'm ready with my turn. I played half a year.  Having played two turns almost back to back, I don't have a need to get my hands on the save anytime soon. Maybe you guys can play Longnight till it's done and i could try join in on the next round of adventuring

Thoughts:

at least 2k-3k goblin and elf body parts remain on the surface. mostly teeth, of course.. there is a dump order for most of them buut maybe its time to just autodump destroy.
lore says the skeletons would weather into dust
The #1 thing that has struck me about 0.50+ is that cleanup is even more difficult than it was in older versions. I support autodump.

- Yes, this is the way, I think. Dumping everything on the surface by hand is not viable. It drains the fun out of the game. I think the corpses is still manageable, if there's a smasher / lava pit close to the battle scene. Hauling the clothes and elf armor takes way way too long.

-> so I used autodump to delete most of the stuff remaining on the surface. I agree, also recommend relaxed use of autodump. This is a war succession, not janitor and hauling succession

-> better to make high quality trades with merchants, selling lots of junk is risky because it slows the merchants - they should leave the map as quickly as possible for their safety

- Other stuff I deleted:
Most of the meat
Most of the coal
Teleported half of the ostriches into lava
Wanted to delete the copper but it's in mixed bins so i don't know how

What’s this? Fighting in the deep staircase? There’s a trail of Zatam Kesvudthar’s frozen extract leading to an unlocked door into the third cavern layer. What? Why is it open? Gem cutter ‘Barrel’ finds herself face to face with the giant mite. She and a bard start fighting it in hand-to-hand combat, with the mite blasting frozen extract everywhere.

Thankfully it ended quickly when ‘Hurt’ Hamecrystal hacked it to pieces with her masterwork pickaxe. She now has two FB kills! But on the way back home to the fort, Hurt collapsed, then Barrel. Their entire bodies were rotting away, until they were completely mangled. There was nothing to be done. I locked them into the sickbay to wither away in agony. So if you wonder about a walled-in sickbay filled with corpses, that's what happened.

Image 2: The suffering of 'Hurt'

- Another thing i did, and the real reason i wanted a turn... There might have been a mysterious reappearing or three. I wanted to bring back Kesperan III but the body was missing, so I chose these three. If this is breaking the rules, my turn can be disqualified and use Salmeuk's save

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Image 3: The ones who came back

Squads status:

Blades of Despair: mostly okay?
Knife crushers: Gone?
Ardent Shields: Still away protecting fortress Cryptrush
Last Dragon: Gone?
Flayed Demon: Was missing a captain, gave the command to 'The Master'
I put the two returnees from the spoiler into a new squad that I dubbed the Dark Hegemon

Here's the save:

I wouldn't have deleted the coal, but what's done is done.

I'm okay with it, but was there any particular reason you wanted those three?

Real bummer about Green Machine I was wanting to give him his own town or something for all the hard work he has been giving us across all the fortresses

Good question. Besides finishing taking these dwarven lands what do our people really need to consider this a success? We took them from a nigh-extinct people to an empire and now they're about to officially have a home land

I wouldn't have deleted the coal, but what's done is done.

I re-checked... I deleted almost 2000 coal. There's 600 left, if that's enough for your needs

I'm okay with it, but was there any particular reason you wanted those three?

Not sure why. McCoy's child because children are cool, Parn and Sensualbowel because they're cool female military dwarves, and SB's freaky artefact name is very funny. I picked dwarves that weren't "My" dwarves. So not Likot Hatchetmobs or Astesh for example

Yeah, I'm sorry about Green Machine. I was really annoyed when he wandered in. I have really bad luck: I have pretty small casualties, but I always get some of the coolest dwarves killed. I got Bruenor killed back in Gateheaven

At summer, the elves laid siege to the fortress. Three dwarves were sadly lost. First, ‘Greedy (for a dwarf)’ was jumped by the elves outside. Then, the battle began in the pillar room, and ‘Bruenor’ fell to the bottom and was overwhelmed by elves and animals there. Lastly, ‘Goodman74’, a newly recruited fighter, was killed.

Then Kesperan Steelcrown's wife in the Forest of Burning

Oh no, my wife got turned into magma mist! Lol!

And now Green Machine... Also i've gotten a lot of non-dwarf residents killed on my turns, but maybe it just shows how many we have

Speaking of Astesh, maybe i'll share what I found out about him. I noticed he didn't really have any friends, and I think i found out why:

Well, he's gone now, our loyal captain of the guard

I'm SIGGED??!??!??

I guess we should mine the wall of adamantium, after I found it with some sacrifice, and Salmeuk uncovered it with even more sacrifice, we should produce as much blue goodness as we can

Make masterwork adamantine weapons, equip our squads or come collect them on an adventurer and go on a crusade against our enemies

I still fancy storming a vault in adventure mode and making arms and armour of divine metal to chop up the enemies of Longnight…

Is Tirist Steelcrown still alive?

Make sure you are playing the game version the save uses! we are playing the public beta branch

go to dwarf fortress on steam
hit properties
beta tab
change it to public beta branch

should be visible after that! Dfhack also has a version of that one so you can change that too!

hmmm weird then...

Sometimes when I unzip folders it'll double folder it and the game can't read it.
Did the unzip make a new folder to put that one in?
idk how to explain that in a way that makes sense lol

I played the latest turn without the beta branch. I think this could be a good moment to "un-migrate" the save back to non-beta regular release, as long as the two versions are so parallel that switching is possible.

Adventure mode is released, so it's now on the main branch. Stuff like adventurer cabin building and new fort mode quality-of-life additions will probably come to the main branch pretty soon-ish.

As Tarn and Putnam start doing the LUA scripting beta, we could end up stuck on an unstable beta branch. So i think we should stop using beta just in case, while we can
