In another thread (in which the other poster was referring to “rag doll” physics, I made a joke by pointing out that rag dolls were known to the Romans (a rag doll was found in a Roman child’s grave dating to between the 1st and 5th centuries) and, therefore we’re before the 1400s cut-off.

I then checked the wiki to see if rag dolls (or dolls of any kind) were in the game.  I found that they were not.
Furthermore, I noticed that all of the currently included toys were things that would be considered to be traditionally toys for boys.

Then I searched this sub forum to see if anyone had suggested anything similar.  To my surprise, my joke post was the only post mentioning dolls outside of “rag doll physics”.


That’s why I am formally suggesting that rag dolls be added as toys for children to play with.  These could be made in a craftsdwarf’s workshop using the clothesmaking labor.

I would also be interest in other peoples ideas for other toys that are traditionally considered to be for girls.

Being able to make toy outs of cloth sounds like a neat idea.  It sounds easily moddable even if not added to the base game.

But it does raise the point that this isnt the same thing as 'making a rock block rubix cube' or something.

this is at least another trade good and at most a highly detailed toy that a child is holding - potentially while also aping onto their mother at the same time.

Where are the miniature tea cups mugs and goblets? Instead of a dollhouses, can we have dolltaverns?

Part of the bias could probably be attributed to the fact that dwarves are traditionally seen as a very "masculine" race (even in terms of their women), but I agree that it would definitely be worth including more toy options for those players who enjoy playing against stereotype every now and again. If dwarves can wear dresses, they should also be allowed to play with dolls. And of course, dwarves aren't the only culture whose children play with toys.

In other words, good suggestion. +1.
