Month 1, Year 1
The war has ended. The prior totalitarian control over the media and the forced requisition of all companies by the King have been put to an end. You are one of the few who decided to attempt to start up a gaming empire in the void that currently exists for that industry, as all the more wealthy individuals have their investing in the exploitation of the newly opened television and radio networks.
(Remembered seeing a game where you played as a weapon-designing corporation awhile back. Decided to apply the concept to gaming company instead.)

Number of Actions
Available Next Turn: 1
Each turn you have a number of actions available for use during the turn. Any unused actions are lost. Actions may wind up being tied up in bureaucracy once your company reaches a certain size, or due to outside events. In order to gain more actions, you need to hire additional employees. Each employee costs an additional $2500 to maintain. Non-CEOs can choose to RP as one of the employees.
Creating a game requires the usage of 1 action and the declaration of a genre, at a cost of $500. The game will start out with one basic mechanic for that genre, and then you build on it from that by suggesting a new rule each subsequent turn. Implementation of that rule is determined by the roll of a die, the lower the number, the more poorly implemented the rule becomes. Each suggestion requires the use of a single action. Publishing the game for public consumption costs 1 action and $500, with more actions and money being able to be used to publicize the game in order to bring profits up. A roll of a dice, with modifications, will determine how well the game in question was received. The minimum may be increased either temporarily or permanently after different events. You will also need to set the price of the game which you sell it to retail stores at.
You can build off of a previous game through releasing expansions and the such, though it costs 1 action and $250 to start, and carries the same minimum marketing cost. However, they will not wind up selling as well.
You can create a genre using two actions and $1000, and declaring its name and listing the basic mechanic of it. A roll of a die will determine how close the basic mechanic will be to what you wanted. Creation of a genre implies creation of a game, so include the name. Until the first game of the genre is released, the genre cannot be used by another company. The developer of a genre gets a bonus to creating new games in the genre.
Available genres are below:
No Genres Developed
(Additional mechanics (ex. You're currently developing for tabletop, but later on you can design for video game platforms) will be added as time goes on, due to them being superfluous as of the current time.)
Ooh! Reserve, if there's still space.
Name: Xaver Runik
Company Name: Dunician Legion
Develop the Shooter genre. The core mechanic of this genre is two or more players playing against each other, and trying to shoot each other with guns.
((I hope I did that right... Also, do I have to roll a d20, or do you?))
(All you need to do is post your action, and maybe some RP about your character's thoughts. I deal with everything else.)
(Also, just to make sure it is understood, if you are a player, don't look at other player's reports.

News
"Several new companies have appeared in a variety of industries this month. The fate to befall these growing companies and corporations is currently uncertain, but economists are predicting a staggering growth in the economy as a side-effect. In the entertainment industry alone, five major studios have been created for television alone, along with three movie studios, six radio stations, and seven that refer to themselves as 'gaming' companies.
These 'gaming' companies go by the name of 'Snowstorm Games', 'Komodo LLC', 'Excaliber Industries', 'Psychotic Rampage Incorporated', 'United Tilers', 'Dunician Legion', and 'Seeker Corps'. When spoken to, the owner of FOG studios, Vin Malvio, said that the ideas brought in by these younglings will likely not go all too far, and people would return to the traditional form of entertainment.
In other news, the rhino population around New Guiness is steadily raising to previously unknown levels..."

News
"...thank you for that report on the weather, Andrainov.
In other news, the first two games are going to be coming soon, one each from the companies 'Seeker Corps' and 'Psychotic Rampage Incorporated'. Seeker Corps is releasing what they term an 'item find' game called 'Seeker'. It is expected to be priced around ten dollars. The other game is one that has started to come under a lot of controversy for its name, 'Mushroom Torture'. With the end of the War of Independence, this game is coming under fire for its apparent belligerent disregard for being so apparently uncaring about the usage of Torture by the Dark Emperor, especially as it is being released under a genre called 'Comedy', the name of the company not helping its case. This is leading to a growing movement against the 'gaming' industry, a movement being supported by several major companies, with Vin Malvio being one of the more vocal supporters.
We go now to one of the protests occurring in one of the few chains that decided to pick up the game..."

Non-player Interaction Opportunities
(People who aren't playing as a company are able to write something akin to a short story that can affect the game. Players cannot write these. Amount of opportunities is variable depending upon the turn. Most can only be taken once, but later on there will be some subjects that can be written about more than once. These will be indicated by a counter before the description. These may be claimed, but if there isn't at least some basic idea put up (you can flesh out the detail more afterwards) within three hours, the claim is invalidated.)

News
"...the Mushroom Riots have finally begun to wound down with the trial of Crazy Dave resulting in a guilty verdict, with all assets being seized. He is currently believed to be insane, after he made a comment upon zombies eating everyone, despite it being common knowledge that the creation and use of zombies is under heavy regulation by the Council of Archmages. Current projected death total as a side effect of these riots are in the thousands. Crazy Dave is still at large after he managed to escape during transport to the national penitentiary. The convict had been captured after one of the people he attempted to hire as an employee to con donations out of the populace.
Despite the controversy surrounding the Mushroom Torture, Seeker Corp's item find game Seeker has outsold its supplied stock for the second week in a row.
Newspapers in a few northeastern cities are now running ads for Wizard Battler 1. Several of the groups that appeared during the Mushroom Riots have begun to speak out about the game. In addition, there are reports that some of the Arcane Universities are taking an interest in the game.
Another game is in the process of being released. In contrast to Wizard Battler 1, very little information is coming out about this game besides its name, Unnamed: Game and its genre, which is causing stirrings similar to what was seen at the announcement of Mushroom Torture as it is a 'shooter' game."
