Perhaps, I'm just so used to the pop controls (remove use_evil_animals and likes_site:dark_fortress and it tends to keep them down to sub 1k in most of the fortresses which is a lot easier to roam around and explore.

Here is the proposed adventurer build (and the generated world in IsoWorld). I settled on hero rank as a golden mean between peasant and demigod.

Evidently Google Drive doesn't like to give permalinks to anything EDIT: easily. In the future, what is the best way to link images to this forum?

Is that what isoworld is? I never played with it.

I was gonna say if you pull up gm-editor df.global.gview in the adventurer start screen then walk through the child windows to the one with the adventurer and skills entry you could zero out the points and reassign the right amount of points in more "anthropological" skills.

Ok, cool. I didn't know I could do that with gm-editor.

gui/gm-editor df.global.gview will bring up a screen with a few entries and child/parent entries, hit child a couple times until you see one with adventurer on the right and you can then tweak the skills directly there, it's basically what the adv-max-skills script does, I was poking around in there after trying to figure out how to do things like max one or two skills instead of all of them for roleplay reasons and such, same idea here.

I'll let you guys choose what skills I need, but I think the attribute build I have listed is about what I need for survival.

I'd definitely say for this type of adventure having points in swimming and climbing would be mandatory, also having some amount of skill in dodger and fighter would help.
As for weapon skills, I think that's something you should choose because tbh it doesn't really matter.

D'ya think something sort of like Indiana Jones in terms of being able to climb and swim, and being able to defend yourself as needed?  For instance, a real-life anthropologist wouldn't sit quietly if he was going to be eaten.

Note: No, I don't think that all the aboriginals in the world (if that's the right word) are bloodthirsty cannibalistic savages.  It's just that Dwarf Fortress is that much more dangerous than real life.  Thank goodness!

Yeah, if you added lasher then the image would be complete.
Also honestly, DF is dangerous enough that cannibalistic savages are like fluffy bunnies in our world.
Though, maybe thats a bad comparison, considering even rabbits can kill you in DF if they go for the throat.

You made me do this...

And yes, having some form of defense would be vital to even getting to the area being studied. If you guys want me to use a whip, I'm game. I would probably hack in a steel whip to properly defend against bronze colossi, despite the whip glitch (I have fought a colossus before with a bronze or iron whip and it didn't do squat).
Have we decided which site the adventurer is studying?
