Obama never touched Marxism. Trump can't get through a two minute speech without dogwhistling. Right-wing violence has exploded in his name. The murdering nazi responsible for this massacre picked him by name as the "icon of white identity".

He is culpable. No more bullshit return to mean.

Uh what? The numbers were in fact 57 drone strikes under Bush and 563 drone strikes under Obama, a 10-fold increase from the previous administration. The first of which Obama authorized 3 days into his first term in office. His arm did not need a whole lot of stretching on this.

It seems a bit rich to laugh off extra-judicial mass-killings because a Democrat ordered them.

Just because someone picked someone as an "icon" doesn't mean that the picked person is responsible for everything. I'm sure you don't personally blame Marx or even Lenin for all the bad things done by Stalin, despite Marx/Lenin iconography being adorned on literally everything.

I realize that this is something you're passionate about, but responding to a shitpost with cold hard data might not be as effective as you think.

Fun fact, shitposters are often incapable of parsing facts.

But Trump too has increased the number of drone strikes, topping Obama.  Did more in one year that Obama did in four in certain theaters.  Not only that, but Trump has also actively taken action to obfuscate US drone use statistics.  Not that they were keeping good track anyway.

That's pretty irrelevant. We don't give the previous mass-shooter a pass on criticism because some guy came along and shot more people that he did. Kinda seems weird to say that Obama has teflon coating now, because some worse guy came along. Two wrongs don't make a right.

EDIT: the fact is that Obama did in fact order 567 non-legal assassinations of foreign nationals, and falsely equating that with the straw man "he ordered more drone strikes than Andrew Jackson" or the frankly irrelevant detail that someone else later ordered more strikes than he did, doesn't somehow mean we can't sit down and hold Obama responsible for what Obama did. At this point you're just looking like someone who's trying to excuse genocidal excess by any argument you can pluck out of the sky, because it happened to be someone on the side of politics you align with.

Obama also currently has roughly fucking nothing to do with anything relevant to the current issue, too.

Why the fuck is he even being brought up? We had a right-wing terrorist fuck murder over four dozen civilians and the fucking POTUS promptly ape the terrorist's lingo. Obama is not worth fucking talking about right now.

Yeah ... I'm not really buying that Trump inspired this attack. Trump didn't inspire the Brevik attack in Norway either, which was worse than this one.

I do symphathize with you guys having to have Trump in your face 24/7 but just be aware that this is nothing to do with Trump and it's kinda navel-gazing to think any attack anywhere is somehow a USA politics thing. the guy got radicalized after visiting Europe after all, especially citing incidents in Scandinavia, which happens to also be where the Brevik attack took place. I'm pretty sure that guy was a major inspiration for this one, not Trump or any USA-related bullshit you're dealing with. The border wall is about Mexicans, and I can tell you for a fact no racist in Australia gives a single fuck about Mexicans. There just aren't any Mexicans here, not enough for any racists to give a shit about.

The guy doesn't have a single nice thing to say about Trump really:

"dear god no" about Trump isn't how a supporter or someone inspired by Trump refers to Trump.

Sweet fucking hell Ree the ameripol problem, beyond whatever degree the stochastic terrorism efforts of our right wing got loose our borders, is that the president of the United States of fucking America mimicked the language of a terrorist that murdered over four dozen civilians.

Yeah, that's the main issue here.

I think the terrorist mimicked Trump's language first. Trump just continued talking the way he's always talked, without regard for the fact that a terrorist had recently abused his rhetoric in horrific ways.

No. They were both drawing from white supremacist/xenophobe bullshit. Less which came first and more sucking from the same cesspool. The terrorist was using the rhetoric the same way trump was previously and had the shit fucking sense to do again in what might as well have been direct fucking reference to the murdering piece of shit's manifesto, if it wasn't straight up exactly that instead of a might as well. To the extent that rhetoric was Trump's, the terrorist wasn't abusing it, he was using it. Not horrifically, the way it's bloody intended to be.

If you examine Twitter messages sent by each serving President you'll probably find a similar drop-off, mainly because the current technology behind each developed and became ubiquitously available to the end users in a steep ascendance between the two regime eras.

We might be better looking at the further drone-rate (and, indeed, the Twitter one) into the time of Trump, if we can yet determine that accurately.

(And Andrew Jackson didn't use Twitter. I think he used AOL Messenger, instead.)

Hey everyone.

I have a bit of a question and was hoping you could help me out. I'm Australian, but I follow American politics because it has global consequences and they are our closest ally. But....does anyone really like Trump? I mean for real? I feel like its turning into a big troll memer movement where all these people are propping him up just because they hate "the liberals" and "the s-j-dubbyahs" so much. I mean...even if you agree with all his policies, how can you want him there? How can you in good conscience support him? It's also really confusing because the same people who crucify Bill Clinton for having an affair in the oval office, and Hillary for emails, turn a blind eye when Trump was no-condom boning a pornstar, talking on an unsecure phone that is apparently watched by China and Russia, his daughter sends and uses private emails for white house business and he seems to be actively trying to fire people and re-organise prosecutors to stack investigations in his favour.

And there's the narcissism. Sending someone to pay 60,000 dollars for a portrait of yourself at an auction, just so you can say it was the best selling item. Then hanging the portrait in your golf club, and paying back the bidder with funds from a -charity-.
And that his son eric apparently funneled money from a children's cancer charity fund and used it for non-charity purposes.
And there's the constant need to make racial charged statements (Like Pocahontas, or the charlottesville nazi thing, or pointing to the crowd in his rally and saying "where's my african american man, where is he?" or calling Mexicos rapers, or using an index system in the 70's to keep black people out of his apartment buildings) and he seems to always be butting heads with allies (including my own country, Australia, who have fought alongside America in -every- war they ever asked us to). While at the same time he beleives Putin over his own intelligence people (who are sworn to protect the nation and give their lives for it) and has an odd bromance with Kim Jong Un, who literally gorges himself on rich foods while his people are starving.
And there's the constant drama, and all these people he knows are getting arrested and ending up in jail, and he passed tax cuts that mostly help rich people but will end up drowning their economy so deep in debt, and now he's trying to just bulldoze over congress and senate to force funding for a border wall.

So I guess...in summary...how does anyone support this man? And if the answer is "because what he can do for them" isn't that an incredibly immoral and ethically bankrupt choice to make?
