It doesn't seem right that you get only one plank from making blocks out of wood. Stones give four blocks and are better in basically every way except weight (usually). Obviously, you're intended to mine stone incidentally while making your fortress, so you have a ton of it. However, wood should have a little more viability as a basic building material. Given its relative scarcity and mundanity, I think it would be fair to at least give it parity with stone for block production (1 log:4 blocks). I even think it might be interesting to make the conversion rate better than stone (1 log:8 blocks) to make it useful as a niche material to use as scaffolding or for quick and fragile construction. I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts about this.

This is not true in v50. Logs make 4 blocks.
