GIFs are a pain when they get too long, though...
Otherwise, cool update.

Ah, that's true. Would people prefer I put the GIFs in links, like I did with the Entire Battle Recap GIF? That might mitigate the problem.

Wow. Having been on the making end of an LP, that post looks like it took a lot of effort. Well done! The poem was pretty awesome and I liked the gifs, but I've played the original and PSP versions of the game multiple times so I'm quite familiar with it all and am probably not a great judge. I'd say tweak the format to make it a bit easier on yourself, whatever that means. Did you end up using a character editor of some sort to get the characters how you wanted them? Or was it just a reeeeeally long time at the recruiting office? (I totally would have used an editor) Also, woohoo I got the Mythril Knife. :P

I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Really long time at the recruiting office, since I wanted semi-random characters. I took the first recruit that matched zodiacs, and had below 60 Faith/Brave for Worldly/Green characters, and above 60 for Spiritual/Hardened characters. In actuality, it only took about 10 minutes altogether... most of the time was spent uploading and formatting images in BBCode. @_@

Inclined to agree that it was too picture-y.

Tempted to submit a character, but I can't decide what to request. There's too many good options!

Question: Do Break skills work on ranged attacks in this one?

Haha nice, more patience than me!

Also, I think I found the same hack you're using and I'm doing a playthrough too (dunno how long it'll go but you made me want to pick it up again) and there's a bit of a sad story. I started with a squire a lot like Furtuka's character except even lower faith/brave and since you start with more characters than you can really use in a non-ironman playthrough I booted him from the party so I didn't get confused. Went on to the next battle and what do you know, a squire with the same name is in the enemy ranks. :(

I believe they do, along with other Weapon-range skills like the Squire's Beatdown (which adds a big chunk of scaling Dark Magic damage to the attack). Still, I'd advise folks who are familiar with FFT to not take too much for granted. Many of the classes have been heavily tweaked, and in some cases given entirely new skillsets (for instance, the broken-if-you're-decent-at-math Calculator job has been replaced by something completely new). I'll post info as the classes become available.

I'd like in!

Name: Max (or Maximum, or MZ.)
Sex: Male
Zodiac Sign:Libra

Wealthy or Low-born? Low-born
Scholar or Soldier? Soldier
Worldly or Spiritual? Worldly (the lower the faith, the better.)
Hardened or Green? Hardened

Notes: Born in an extremely impoverished society, Max once took up arms with the army of Goltana. He, however, like many soldiers, was refused pay after a few battles and deserted. Since then, he has worked as a mercenary for numerous entities, including the Death Corps/Brigade. Max prefers swords to any other weapon, but will on occasion use an axe. Magic is not Max's forte, and he avoids it whenever possible, unless it's healing him.

Very nice, Soli. It really looks like metric shittons of effort were put into the update.

Man it would suck to die in that first battle while the survivors go on to fame and glory.

On the other hand, it'd suck a bit less to die in that first battle while the survivors go on to die in other battles, which is... somewhat more likely.

Btw I found it very ironic that Solee died in the first mission.

Also after reading up on the job classes on the wiki I have come to the conclusion that Orators/Mediaters are Problem Sleuth

It was meant to be... someone had to kick the bucket in the first (and need I add easiest) fight in the game, or it just wouldn't have been right. I blew through all our Phoenix Downs trying to bring him back, but Juliana kept repeat-shanking him as soon as stopped dying long enough to stand up. Ah well... guess I'll have to content myself with the protagonist! (If you watch the battle GIF, Ramza kinda did inherit Solee's soul-crystal, which works!)

At any rate, I'm a little better at planning around the turn timer now. Hopefully we can avoid blowing through our expensive healing items in the future... we've got a lot of troops to equip! Speaking of which, welcome Ishaan, Barbarossa, and Trixie to the team, everyone!

More on that soon!

Tossing a critter into the available future-corpse pile~

Name: Jack Thejil
Sex: Female
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

Wealthy or Low-born? Low-born
Scholar or Soldier? Soldier
Worldly or Spiritual? Worldly
Hardened or Green? Hardened

Other Notes: Death from afar! A specialist in ranged attacks and a craven sadist, Jack hopes to get her malnamed hands on whatever the strongest source of physical ranged damage becomes available... and then promptly use that on the nearest squishy. Probably start aiming for archer, but from there...? Guns will be her eventual favorite thing in the world.

Assuming she lives for a longer amount of time, a secondary preference for status effects (especially physical-ish ones, like poison.) could come into play.

As for other things, add some behavioral limitations: Being a coward, Jack prefers not to end her turn beside foes and, being a sadist, gives preference to attacking whatever enemy is physically weakest (i.e. mages, healers, etc. Possibly just whoever has lowest brave or max HP.) when she has multiple targets to choose from.
