It's been seven days since the start of this round. Here's a quick overview of the different submissions. Not many submissions, but they were of high quality, so still a difficult choice.

Spoiler: Tise Mucousdungs (click to show/hide)
Awesome idea to make a tile-sized sprite for mucousdungs, and for a mite it still is of towering height.

Great pixelwork, and very creepy.

haha! also, did he already lose his other hand in a similar incident?

So a difficult choice indeed. I really like Wierds submission. Clearly a lot of work went into that, and its excellent pixel work. But because it's an original idea to actually make a tile set compatible graphic, and because its high quality sprite work I choose Wannabehero. Too bad graphics can't really be linked to specific forgotten beasts in game. Maybe this could be used by someone to mod in a giant mite creature?

Also, Wannabehero did not yet submit a suggestion for a FB. We'll need to wait until he does before we can start the next round.

Slick! New beast time!

I really wanted to do an overkill pixel work backdrop for said giant bug, but my employer has been utilizing 100% of my time lately with endless piles of work to get done. :(

(And believe it or not, Mucousdungs only took an hour to doodle in. Large creature sprites are a lot easier to make than quality 16x16 sprites. I agree with your choice, it's a fabulous tileset sprite.)

really i never would guessed that. i suck at any form of pixeling.

the sprites i make/made for the games i made are either so basic they look like a 2 year old drew them
or i just drew them in photoshop or something then scale them to sprite size

ninjaedit: @Bralbaard yes thats what i was going for with his other hand :D

With a 16x16 sprite (8x16 sprite is worse!) Every last pixel counts. A single pixel out of place will look garish.  A large creature sprite is far more forgiving.

oooh that makes sense!

Oh and i never complimented your beast! It was really creepy and gothic looking; reminded me heavily of castlevania! I loved it.

Current options are:
- Use another beastie recently suggested
- I will find a Community beast, as those tend to come with really interesting stories

If that sounds reasonable, I will start looking into options in 12-24 hours.

Me either!

On a semi-related thought, I have made a thread in the creative projects subforum, based on a personal larger scale project I want to undertake.

To make the most od things, in relation to the personal project, I will limit my submissions to 128x128 sprites, possibly with animations. If you want something specific as a sprite in that formfactor, drop a reply in that thread!

/shameless plug.

Pity that I was too busy to actually finish the mite. Here is what I had before I ran out of time.

Oh man, I wish you would have had a chance to finish that. That is amazing.

Anyways, I sent a last-minute reminder to Wannabehero. In less than 10 hours, I'll put up several options for a quick 2-day vote.

If you are searching for a beast, i posted some week ago (actually, it's the first drawing of this new post, made by Darkerdark, the March 25, 2013, 09:17:00 pm) a quite long story of an epic fight between an elf and a FB.
