Since the nazi's started gassing the jews, I think we should complain to them, and offer them technology in exchange for toning down the massacre.  If nothing else, it starts preparing us for a legitimate exit from the alliance since thigns are starting to get crazy.

Making it about the jews is probably political suicide. we ought to put it in more generic terms. We feel that eugenics is a waste of valuable workers. We are uncomfortable with them expending resources on such impractical matters when there is a war on. A nation turning upon it's own citizens suggests bad things for its behaviour towards its allies...

Let's not address it at all and focus on how Cannala has landed on our beaches and is in the process of storming our homelands.

Since the nazi's started gassing the jews
There's a fair chance we don't know, at least not for sure and not fully, and even if it's an open secret nobody will want to talk about, and nobody will help us with. While Allies will be getting this soon, and there were other, partial, reports before, they disregarded it, and as for Axis... well, they mostly knew because their Jews started dissapearing, and we know less because we aren't in Europe. I mean, sure, they did ask us to get rid of them, but really, the best we probably know at this point is that they're being repressed and thrown out of Axis occupied land, we probably know of the concentration camps, but probably the official version - they are well fed and held as regular prisoners, still political prisoners, but with not-shit conditions. There's a reason why Nazis actually photographed a fair bit of them, and relased photos such as this, which today serve as food for Holocaust deniers. After all, there is a reason why Holocaust deniers still exist - it's not that they don't have any arguments, it's that their arguments are based on German propaganda of the time, from which we get things such as Auschwitz football team, greenhouses, swimming pools, rabbit breeding program, theater and shit.
So the German answer to that probably wouldn't be "fuck off, no" or "do you want us to invade you too?", but rather panicked "HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE GASSING!?"

Battle Report 17: Summer 1942

Well it's been a while!
I mean REALLY a while this time. Oops.

New Equipment:

This turn, the Forenians have designed the UF-ERA-42 'Blood Eagle', a set of explosive-reactive armor. This consists of metal plates with a layer of explosive material mounted to the outside of an armored vehicle. When an incoming projectile touches them, they detonate, deforming the projectile. This is mainly effective against shaped-charge explosives. The Blood Eagle plates tend to have runaway explosions, so that all of the ERA on one side or the entirety of a vehicle often goes off after a single impact. It can be retrofitted to existing armored vehicles with at least Light armor, but retrofits will have noticeable gaps. For their revision, the Zhelezonogorod aircraft carrier's takeoff assist catapult has been retrofitted with a steam-powered system, instead of the old one which used disposable rocket motors. It's faster to use and doesn't smoke up the deck so much.

Cannala has finally unveiled the M-1942 Missile Auto-Guided Infrared Camera (MAGIC), a self-guided missile. It uses a relatively simple system of vaccuum tubes controlled by infrared sensors. The sensors use the same photoreactive material that's in ASWANG night vision scopes, but the charge is sent directly to a circuit instead of used to create light for a visible image. There are fives sensors, under lenses to "see" arcs above, below, left, right, and center of the missile nose. The missile is steered by four tail fins, which are either fully straight or fully deflected, causing it to snake through the sky towards its target. It travels relatively slow for a missile, and the sensor is effective out to one mile, but it can fly up to two miles. The MAGIC Missile is large, at 700 pounds, and has a warhead capable of devastating any air target. For their revision, they have made the 1942 Infrared Sighting System "Aswang II", an improvement to the existing Aswang night vision system. The infantry version is smaller, at 22 pounds with a 4 1/2 inch spotlight. There is also a vehicle version, with a ten inch spotlight that illuminates to

The War This Turn:
Cannala is attempting to repel Forenia in the Jungle, and prevent them from securing the resources there, as well as pushing their position on the Forenian mainland. Forenia is working to push Cannala out of their homeland, and once again mounting an attack on Titan.

The Battle at Sea
No new designs this turn are relevant to the battle at sea, but I did forget to properly mention that the BB-1 Vodka, Forenia's knockoff of the Victoria, is actually cheaper than the Victoria itself, lending Forenia a greater number of big guns. They do need it just to keep up, thanks to Cannala's superior radar systems and wider variety of effective small ships, and naval skill. Lightning-Streak escorted squads of Haast bombers turn the tide of battle enough that, for once, Forenia bloodies Cannala's nose at sea. On the other hand, Forenia still loses many ships to mines and sneaky torpedo strikes. Cannalan Buccanneer Boat crews have made some attempt to navigate with Aswang II systems for night attacks at sea, but the visual range of the spotlight isn't enough to make this an effective tactic.

Cannala and Forenia are Tied this season. Even though technically what is happening now is that each side is giving an equal performance to the other, Forenia parades their "victorious" sailors through the streets, and General Cortez receives some harsh words from El Presidente before being forced to make an apologetic public speech.

The Battle for the Tereshkova Jungle:

Attacking: Cannala
The dry season begins.

Cannala's improved night vision systems make their debut. The night raids continue, sometimes with vehicle support, allowing Cannala to regain some ground they lose to Forenian infantry during the day. Still the overall effect is small, since the Aswang II systems are still expensive and can't be distributed widely. The dry season means there is more opportunity to use Bull tanks as well. Of course, the significant Forenian advantages of a better-performing light amphibious vehicle, flamethrowers, and airborne fire bombing are still significant. Forenia debuts their new secret weapon the Blood Eagle ERA. This proves effective in the jungle: Infantry-fired antitank rockets are easily defeated by it. The armor is Expensive, so it's usually reserved for Salamanders and T33's on the vanguard or risky patrols. Against rounds from enemy vehicles, which are usually at close range in the jungle, its performance is much less impressive. The 4" Daybreaker cannon used on all Bull tanks and the Marauder APC can penetrate an AS-T33 or Salamander equipped with Blood Eagle armor just fine using AP or APDS rounds, although HEAT is sometimes stopped by it. Autocannons, still sometimes a threat, are also of course not stopped by ERA simply due to their rate of fire: By the time the second or third round hits, the ERA is already gone.

MAGIC sees its first real use here. Forenia relies heavily on its great, ungainly, large, and very expensive Ice Giant transport aircraft to air-drop soldiers and Salamander APC's, as well he Reckless Effect for additional transports and the aging 1931-HAFB for crucial firebombing efforts in the jungle. These large aircraft are vulnerable, and rely on their own machine guns, and the efforts of Lightning Streak fighter escorts to protect themselves. With MAGIC missiles, Cannala seeks to circumvent this entirely. The missiles need to be carried by a Falcon Multirole Fighter, as the advanced Spearhead is dedicated to fighting aircraft with its own guns and lacks hardpoints, or carrying capacity. The Falcon can hold 3, although usually it is only equipped with two due to their expense. As a piston fighter in an age of jet fighters, it's actually quite vulnerable. However, the missile can at least be fired from one to two miles, meaning Forenian escorts have to be very quick to respond.

Presuming that the Cannalans prevent their missile-bearing aircraft from being shot down, the MAGIC is impressive to behold in flight. It streaks across the sky leaving a zig-zag trail of dark smoke. It has a hard time flying exactly straight, and if it's seeking a fighter, it will certainly miss: A pilot just has to pull a sharp maneuver when the missile gets close, or even if they don't it's liable to go streaking past them. The real targets are the bombers and transports anyway. These can't maneuver so quickly, and the missiles have about even odds of hitting them. On an impact, the explosion is devastating. Even Forenia's notoriously durable large aircraft suffer catastrophic structural failures from the 50lb impact-detonated warhead. The explosion is big enough to tear off a wing where the missile seeks straight onto the engine, or collapse the fuselage on a direct hit. The MAGIC is most reliable when fired from behind its target, though opportunistic attacks from in front are the easiest for Cannalan pilots to attempt. It has about a 1/4 to 1/2 chance of hitting, and it's also vulnerable to what Cannalan engineers have dubbed "solar capture", that is to say, it locks onto the sun sometimes.

The missile strikes fear into the hearts of Forenian bomber crews, who sometimes even bail out before it hits. However, the unreliability of its delivery and dependence on slower piston planes, as well as its expense, prevents it from being enough to turn the battle around, since Forenia's ground performance is good too.

Forenia holds their ground. [Cannala 0/4, Forenia 4/4] They will now have access to the Ore here.

The Battle for Titan:

Attacking: Forenia

A number of factors have changed since last time. Forenia has improved their naval footing, and developed their Blood Eagle ERA, but Cannala's MAGIC missiles might chip into Forenia's traditional method of using transports to drop armor into places which disrupt Cannalan lines.

One thing becomes apparent when Forenian forces hit the shore: Their naval advantage is somewhat squandered without a real lander. Almost the entire beach assault is carried out by Salamanders lifted off boats into the water, and any materiel which can't fit into a Salamander had better be able to fit into a rowboat. T33 tanks will have to wait for control of a dock. Unit deployment is slow and makes for less of a shock attack. Furthermore, Blood Eagle ERA adds weight enough that the failure weight of air-dropped Salamanders increases noticeably, so it's deemed unsafe for air-drop use. The ERA does protect vehicles from some long-range Cannalan HEAT rounds, but it doesn't make up for the lack of firepower that Forenian armor has in comparison to Cannala. Compared to in the jungle, infantry anti-tank fire isn't much of a concern, so Blood Eagle doesn't make much of a difference here.

High in the sky, a Forenian HAFB Bomber cruises towards a critical Cannalan position. The co-pilot shouts to the back of the plane: "Look alive! Escorts just pulled off, we need to be ready if any Spearheads get through!" The gunner steels himself, and cranks his turret around scanning the sky. Two Spearheads... and a Falcon? He hasn't seen one of those in a while. The friendly escort fighters chase off the Spearheads first. Then, two rocket trails emerge in front of the Falcon. "Rockets!" the gunner calls out. "They look like they'll come close, change course a bit!" The pilot snakes into an S to stay on course, and the gunner watches in horror as the missiles get closer, then change course towards the bomber. "They're following us! The missiles! How long until target?" "Thirty seconds." "Too long, everybody bail out!" The entire crew grabs parachutes and runs for the door before the deadly projectiles reach their craft. The Gunner, Bomber, Pilot, Co-pilot, and engineer all spill out, scared but fuming at abandoning their mission so close to their goal. Then they watch as the missiles get close to their plane seconds later... and one steers below a wing, the other across the top of the plane, completely harmless. The HAFB gently lists off course without a pilot. After the crew regroups, they all agree to report that the missiles hit their bomber.

Cannala holds the line. [Cannala 2/2, Forenia 0/2]

The Battle for the Forenian Jungle:

Attacking: Both

The battle here is relatively unchanged, though Cannala's advantage on the sea is weakened. Forenia's ERA helps here, as it did in the other jungle. On the other hand MAGIC isn't quite as valuable, since Forenia has ground supply lines here directly to their capitol they aren't actually as reliant on air drops and air transport. Cannala's advantage here was extremely thin before, and the Aswang II isn't enough to make a difference. Forenia regains their ground, but Cannala makes them pay for every yard (or, in the official unit now that this ground is Forenian again, 91.4 centimeters).

Forenia pushes back! [Cannala 0/2, Forenia 2/2]

Events outside the War:

The Outside World:

The war is reaching a height the Axis advance stalls. The US, Britain, and Germany have begun to deploy jet aircraft in increasing numbers, it is clear that in the long run jet engines will be the future of air warfare though piston engine development continues as well. The Soviets push Germany a hundred miles from Moscow before slowing their advance. Although unbeknownst to the world at large, Germany begins their "final solution" in earnest, beginning the large scale deportation and mass execution of Jewish people. Britiain and the United States decide against an offense on France, and try to make their way towards Germany through North Africa, where Rommel's Afrika Korps pushes them back. America begins supplying soldiers to Europe. Brazil breaks off its relations with the Axis powers, and urges Forenia to do the same. Japan begins to expand their control of the Pacific, noticeably taking Singapore from the British, defeating an allied fleet and controlling most of East Asia, and even attacking Darwin, Australia by air. A Japanese submarine attempts artillery fire on Santa Barbara, California, causing little damage but demonstrating the potential reach of the Japanese navy.

The Declaration by the United Nations is signed by the US, China, Russia, and Britain, agreeing to make no separate peace with the Axis; the Allies are fully formed. The "Battle of Los Angeles" occurs, in which 1400 artillery shells are fired at an unidentified aircraft. This is later declared to be a "false alarm", but is speculated by some to be evidence of extraterrestrial activity. The United States begins internment of Japanese, and to a lesser extent, Italian and German citizens all along the west coast.

Local Events:
The Secret Police have arrested Helmacon. A large shipment of arms-manufacturing equipment has gone missing, and rebel activity is suspected. The final book in Raafat Al-Hayim's Wands Race series has been released, with its magic-powered war ending in a victory for Moskurg after Arstotzka insisted on developing air-based weapons even until their gates were beseiged. Raafat has had bricks thrown through his window by Arstotzkans who accuse him of being a Moskurg extremist, but on the whole he says that he's relatively safe living in his home province of Moskurg, all things considered.

An Offer from Germany:
Himmler has approached Forenian Parliament with an offer: "Apparently you've had a lot of trouble rounding up any Jews who might be living here. We've examined your old ministry's birth records and we know there's a significant population somewhere. We think it's definitely in Forenia's best interest to find and deport them, but it seems like you need convincing, so we'll make you an offer. Herr Hitler will graciously offer you One Research Credit if you can ensure you meet a quota of, say, one-hundred individuals sent to our relocation camps next quarter."

In Cannala, no arrest was made this turn. Cannala has refused to intern its Juraki citizens on the United States' request. Despite offers the share Cannala's developments in guided rockets and night vision technology, the US has refused to offer research assistance, citing "potential lack of security" in top-secret information. They've also cited a "potential intellectual property infringement" and refused to import any Disney films this quarter. General Quartez has released a few barrels of rum made from sugar grown on a small plantation in Forenia for the stint that Cannala held ground there, at an extremely high price. The sugar was immature, if free from rot, and the "Victory Rum" was by all accounts not actually that good, but it is in great demand among Cannala's elite nonetheless.

Note on Secret Activities:
I've not sorted all the super secret stuff for this turn. I'll try to do it tomorrow, PM me if I'm missing your action.
