Drink task and pausing the game
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:29:20 pm »

Version 40d9.  It is known that certain events can occur when the game is paused and designations are being placed: gaining conversation skills (bug 743), diplomacy, and cat adoptions (both bug 768).

I have just noticed that the drink task also acts in this way.  To demonstrate this, pause the game and note which dwarves are drinking (they both have the Drink job active and have a booze barrel in their inventory).  Then do a lot of designation with the mouse.  While designating, pay attention to the Idlers count, note that it is increasing.  Return to the drinking dwarves, they have dropped the booze and are now flashing blue "choosing a job" question marks or red "pathfinding" question marks.

For further research: does the Eat task behave this way?  Sleep?  On break?

I'll fold it into the description of the open one.
