Ok after playing a few of the arena games being set up here. I've decided to start my own.

You are advised to READ THE RULES IN FULL. Before you start choosing things.

First off, you need a team. At the start it's an animal from this list:

Note: you may only pick one to start out.
Once you have competed in a single battle, you will be allowed to purchase anything you can afford on the Pet or Pet_exotic list.
Creatures not on that list may not be purchased until Beta Rank. Prices will be determined by the GM on an as needed basis.

You start with 250$. The pet value on that list is the cost of choosing one of those creatures.

Note: When you buy equipment, you must pay for both the material of the item, and the base cost of the item type. Ie: a wooden short sword, will cost you 35$: 10$ for a wood item, and 25$ for a one handed weapon.

Now for the fun part. You must purchase entry into battles. There are three types. Single Combat, Swarm Battles, and Tournaments.

Single Combat and Swarm Battles are 1 vs 1 or team vs team fights respectfully. Each owner must place a bid to compete. Bids are set by the defenders, and it is up to challengers to decide if they wish to fight. The winning owner gets both bids.

A player may set their own challenge, and allow others to fight them, at least until they run out of dwarfbucks to support further bidding. I will also be setting up some npc teams for you lot to fight. When those happen I will post their bids, as well as how much money they have to continue fighting. They will stick around until their money is used up.

The last type of battle are the Tournaments. Every few days I will host a tournament. Tournaments will offer a prize of either a piece of gear, or a better combatant. Depending on the prize, the price to enter will be adjusted. These fights will be either single elimination or round robin. When the tournament is announced, I will announce how many entries are allowed, and when the tournament starts. NPC teams can and will enter tournaments.

Each time you post you may only announce one challenge, and 1 bid if you wish it until your results are announced. Tournaments may be entered at any time.

Jobs:

Jobs will be offered, as NPC side quests. You get paid for writing a story about how the job went, based on the very limited information you get from the title. Jobs are first come, first served. Random items and or bonus pay may be given for a good written blurb(Be Creative!). Should be no more than 10 lines of text(short fluff text, not a full novel). Payment and randoms are given out, usually with the next Tournament results. So on average, 2-3 rl days.

Like with battles, you may only do a single Job per post until the results are returned. Unlike with Battles, results take longer, so you may wish to check the thread, and see who has done what current jobs first.

And Finally Rank.

Rank is determined by your win amount. Only wins will gain you rank points. Losses do nothing but cost you your bid. Higher ranks will allow you to purchase more team slots, and give you access to special rank only battles and jobs. Rank also determines your entry into tournaments or challenge battles. When I check the thread to update, those with higher ranks will be listed first.

Max rank being Omega, at 20,971,520 wins. Somehow I doubt we will ever make it halfway through those listed above, let alone to this level.

I am SOOO getting in on this, probably the most awesome arena idea I have seen so far.

1 Male Warthog.
1 copper Breastplate.
Fluff: This warthog had lived in the Goblin fortress of BlackAbbey for a long, long time, fighting against the forts many foes. Recently though, the fortress surrounded themself with magma. Believing themselves safe from any foe, they sent their warthog, The Metal Pig to the arena, hoping it would bring in money.

I would like to challenge Team Flipper: I am betting 15$
That should leave me with.. aha.. 50$. and -15$ because of the bet, so 35$

The team looks good, but Flipper set their bid at 10$, not 15. Remember whoever sets up the challenge first(the defender) sets the price of challengers.

You could be wanting to set up your own challenge, but in that case, you'd say:
I'm setting my warthog up for a defense. 15$ bid. Until I have only 20$ in my bank. Or until I start a new challenge.

Meaning you have become a defender, waiting for people to challenge you, and pay your bid price. With the restrictions you've outlined on when you want to stop.

Time for an example of a turn, and an exibition match!

Awesome, not going to do a job right now, because that's too much work, even if it is good money.
I'm going to sign up for the tournament right away, so I don't spend the money elsewhere. so that's 20$ for entry fee. Leaving me with 45 left.

My first challenge will be to attack team Platypus, bidding 35$

I will then set up a defense at a bid of 10$ Only if I have enough for three battles(30$ in the bank)

I would then put their name down on the tournament list, and run the battle for the attack challenge and post something like this:

Attack Challenge! Team Fruggen Monkey vs Team Platypus! Bidding at 35$ each, total prize: 70$.
The Battle is fierce! The Macaque rushes forward to start combat first latching on to the leg of the platypus. The strange creature has the same idea, similarly biting the leg of the crazed monkey. Even as the poison sets in, the Monkey gets the upper hand with a viscious charge, knocking it's opponent down and obtaining victory.

Team Fruggen Monkey gains 70$ (Current Bank Account: 80$, opening up their challenge to all takers who wish to fight them.)
Team Platypus is reduced by 35$(Current Bank Account 465)

Also it seems that Animals won't use weapons. Either that or I'm not quite sure how to make them use it. So keep that in mind when equipping yourself.

Attack Challenge! Team RabidHare vs Team Flipper, Bidding 10$ each, total prize 20$
The combatants square off, dodging around each other at first, until the Penguin dives forward for first strike, trying to bite the warthog in the hoof, however the small bird has very little power in that beak, so the hoof takes no damage. As the battle continues, it seems that the Warthog's armor is strong enough to block all of the penguin's attacks. Finally growing bored of toying with the bird, a strong kick to the penguin's head crushes the skull, and the battle is over.

Team RabbidHare gains 20$ (Bank account 70$)
Team Flipper is reduced by 10$ (Bank account 90$)

Team Rabbid Hare also declares a defense of 15$.

Attack Challenge! Team RabbidHare vs Team Nightmare, Bidding 69$ each, total prize 138$
On a Roll from it's penguin killing spree, the warthog of Team RabiddHare takes on the challenge of the underwater nightmare. This special arena battle takes place in a flooded section of the arena! However, it seems that the warthog has no trouble fighting while swimming. The Carp makes the first attack, biting the warthog in the leg, while the hog starts kicking with those deadly hooves. The Carp of team nightmare makes some very flexible attacks, giving the warthog a black eye with it's tail while still holding on to the creature's front left leg. The battle seems even bruising hits flying, until the warthog manages to bite the carp in the upper body, shaking it about and dazing the fish. Eventually the end comes with the same hoof-to-skull-attack we saw before.

Team RabbidHare gains 138$ (Bank account 208$)
Team Flipper is reduced by 69$ (Bank account 381$)


Yeah battles will come whenever I get around to it. I'll probably take a break now, and let others sign up, but you can still give your next challenge if you like Rabbid.

Also: About animals using weapons, their is a specific tag I believe. Have you tried [intelligent] ?

Well guys, I think there isn't enough interest in this to keep going.

After thinking about it, it seems I made it too complicated, and I know I made it so I would have quite a bit of work on my hands if people did get interested.

So I'm going to close this down for now, and rethink things, maybe try something different later on. Feel free to use any of this over in your thread Rabbid.
