Fortress Story: Minehelp
« on: April 24, 2025, 03:52:43 pm »

In the spring of year 152, dwarves established the fortress Minehelp at the mouth of a small river. It was at the intersection of three areas, terrifying tropical grassland in the north, untamed wild tropical shrubland in the west, and joyous wild tropical ocean in the east and the south. There were thin layers of light aquifer in both soil and rock level. Dwarves found the first and the second cavern in the spring and the summer. On the surface, the murky ponds slowly dried out. Giant sparrow zombies and parakeet men zombies patrolled in the sky.

The dwarves had brought 30 ducks. They ate egg biscuits and drank plump helmet wine, working on a fortress safely underground. Some migrants arrived, including a legendary stonecutter and a legendary weaver. In the autumn, the caravan from the home civilization The Tombs of Wood arrived. In the same time came a pack of leopard men zombies. Adil the captain and Sazir the recruit marched out to support the caravan guards. Together they killed the zombies. The fortress sold cut gems and bought leather and cloth.

A leopard man head revived and locked into a fight with a pangolin who stayed rolled up in a ball. Adil and Sazir set out to get rid of the zombie head. It was an easy task, but Sazir lagged behind when they were returning to the fortress. A giant rattlesnake killed Sazir. Adil turned back and killed the snake. Two other dwarves hauled the giant snake back and butchered the corpse. A microcline slab for Sazir was set up in an empty coal mine.

Dwarves dug out more tunnels to explore the caverns and built drawbridges at every entrance. This took a lot of time. The third cavern and magma sea were discovered in the winter. Three rutherers were captured and tamed. A gremlin was spotted and ran away. River water was taken from the surface through a tunnel into a rock chamber. The muddied chamber were then planted with plump helmet.
