Charro didn't smile, however, as his eyes scanned the hallway ahead.

"Let's do this." Jim charged at the door that had slammed in his face earlier and attempted to break it open by plowing right through it. Hopefully he would catch whatever was behind it - assuming it was still there - off guard.

"Let's do this." Jim charged at the door that had slammed in his face earlier and attempted to break it open by plowing right through it. Hopefully he would catch whatever was behind it - assuming it was still there - off guard.
You charge toward the southern door and ram through, a bit overkill for a simple, unlocked door, but it gets the job done. You find yourself in large room with rows of low metal benches and a glitteringly chrome kitchen and serving counter on the far end. Everything is spotless and pristine, save for the half dozen slowly thawing mummies littering the floor in various twisted poses. Scientists, if their lab clothes are anything to go by. You sweep the room with your motion senors set to max but nothing jumps out at you, literally or figuratively.

Charro didn't smile, however, as his eyes scanned the hallway ahead.
>Continue along in the marching order.
You follow Jim into the mess hall and look around. Everything is quiet except for the occasional drip of thawing corpses.

Bishop follows Charro into the mess hall and takes in the thawing bodies.

"Well, this says a few things. They were incapable of stopping the decompression of the base for one, or at least that's what I think. Mesk, get your ass in here and have a look at these guys. Were they killed by decompression or something else? Everyone else, search the bodies, they might have datapads or something with information on. The sooner we do our job, the sooner we can get out of this grave."

Search the bodies for stuff, namely things that contain information like a datapad or flashdrive.

((Loot the bodies~!))

Charro stares blankly at the scene before him.
"Er, no, I'll be right not touching the dead bodies, thanks for asking."
>Step over the corpses and take a look around the kitchen, opening cupboards and such. With a laser rifle in case of anything hiding in a pantry or something.

Bishop shakes his head as he kicks over a corpse, annoyed at the reaction he got.

"They are only dead bodies, not radioactive goop. This is pleasant compared to other stuff you're gonna handle in the corps. Best get over the squemish reaction soon, for your own sake."

"...ewww... watch your steps, guys..."
Check the bodies again.
You take a closer look at the freeze dried scientists. Yeah, they're definitely dead. Very dead. And very scientist. They're probably the deadest, most scientist corpse you've ever seen. Other then that, they all seem to have died similarly to the one in the transmitter room. No sign of trauma or injury outside of violent decompression.

Bishop follows Charro into the mess hall and takes in the thawing bodies.

"Well, this says a few things. They were incapable of stopping the decompression of the base for one, or at least that's what I think. Mesk, get your ass in here and have a look at these guys. Search the bodies for stuff, namely things that contain information like a datapad or flashdrive.
You begin searching through the bodies, looking through pockets for anything that might be of interest. You find 5 wallets, 2 condoms, a stick of gum, and 2 data pads.

You hop over the ashen corpses and find your way into the kitchen. There are more corpses back here too, cooks and staff by the look of it. You begin opening each and every cabinet, keeping your laser rifle at the ready and silently imagining what sort of wriggling alien menace might craw and leap out of those pantries after untold years of waiting there, just for you. You find nothing more frightening then an off brand blender.

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Power up the pads and scan them for information.

"If it bothers you that much, let me do it, Charro. Air-tight. I can't get diseases." Jim wiggled his robot fingers at the man to prove his point, then searched the cooks. He also looked for cooking implements that might suffice to serve as improvised weaponry, such as a cleaver or two.

I don't know why you would assume that :P

"Hot damn, I got something! Datapads. Let me just take a quick look..."

Power up the pads and scan them for information.
The first data pad seems to be that of a techie, while the second is that of a physicist. The techie's files relate mainly to various technical aspects of the  electrical system of the base, specifically the secondary computer systems link to the main computer.

The physicist's files are mostly incomprehensible masses of math or theories related to said math, but he does make repeated reference to what he calls a "The Puddle" and various attempts to discover the nature of what is inside it.

You search through the clothing of the cooks and staff while Charro searches the cabinets. You manage to dig a data pad out of one of the cook's jackets and power it up, scanning through it's contents for something of interest. The Cook, for he makes no mention of his name, has only a few entries, most about mundane goings on in the kitchen. The final entry though, makes mention of a "creeping madness" that is effecting some of the techies. Apparently one of the scientist came up with a cure for it though, some sort of audio signal. Hmm.

You search around the kitchen and find a large metal cleaver with a black blade.

Mesk ponders as he looks over Jim's shoulder.
"Creeping madness... Puddle... a noise designed to combat it.  Hmm.  The noise is obviously the one that nearly killed our Friendly Neighbourhood AI.  I would assume the "Puddle" and "Creeping Madness" are either the same thing, or intrinsically linked... a hostile AI, capable of taking over minds?"

You were looking through cabinets when Jim was reading that, and you were no where near Bishop when he was reading about "the puddle", so you shouldn't know about either of those unless they tell you about it. Keep those meta-eyes from wandering.
