Hmm that's possible, i'll have to recheck the space between buildings, maybe the farms areas intersect with other buildings areas and it's hurting the harvesting, without those nifty Civilisation-like visual designation i have a harder time to visualize the whole areas and their productions.
Thanks for pointing to this, hopefully it's easy fix as there are lots of spaces to build.

Has anyone had luck running Emperor Wars under 64-bit Windows? I'm crashing as soon as I try to start a new game, and am trying to figure out if it's an issue with how I installed things, or the game itself...

I'm running 64x and did get it working eventually after fiddling with compatibility settings. I do remember it needed to be installed in a certain order though!

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

It's working for me, I needed to set it to 8-bit color mode though.

Witness the power of this fully operational MEGA NECRO

Apparently there's 'Enhanced' EotFS that's just got released. Anyone knows anything about it? Is this a slapdash money grab, or a proper rework addressing all the pains of the old version?
I kinda suspect it's closer to the former, so am not too keen on shelling out any gold pieces myself.

Hello,

It's about 10€ on Steam, and about 5€ on GoG. Same game, but without the Steam integration of course. Plus maybe workshop later ?

You can read all the changes and a FAQ here :

Where to Begin???
There have been soooo many changes since we began work on this, and since the release of
the last change log. Most of what we wrote when we first released EFSe (EFS 1.5) still applies,
but now there is so much more. Thus, we now have a changelog for our changelog. We are
keeping the old changelog in place and adding the new changes (1.52) in the right places.

Is this really a patch for a 28-year-old game?
Yes, and much more. Traditionally you copy a patch onto an existing piece of software. This
“patch” is not that. There is no way to copy the fixes onto your existing EFS game. The only way
this works is to download the entire game anew, as we have changed so very much. So,
welcome to Emperor of the Fading Suns Enhanced (EFSe).

Given how every other thing remake, update, or  otherwise is about 40$ I'm honestly surprised its this cheap.

From what I'm reading this looks like they fixed/finished a few features, but I don't see any talk of a major AI rewrite. I.e. the most crucial issue of the original game.
So, a slight improvement over the previous GoG release, but still only viable for multiplayer with house rules regulating interactions with the passive AI.

It's the same people that made the original: If they weren't good at writing AI before, they ain't gonna know now.

Last time I played this game some years ago, I tried to invade another House's planet, only for my attempt to be rebuffed by the AI building several stacks of space stations and launching them into orbit turn after turn. That just seemed... wrong.

For the record the Enhanced Edition has been on GOG for a couple years. If you've bought the game there, you already have it.

The AI is kind of hard to evaluate for me because you have to play like 80 turns before you can even really start to fight it. It does love to leave the regency vacant so the symbiots can really go nuts, which is !!FUN!!
