Turn 4: Runes Are Looked At
Bob the Bum, Floor 1, Room 1
Quote
Continue to dodge the goblin's attacks, and when an opportunity presents itself rush him and stab him again
Quote from: Goblin Strike
1 Vs 4+1
As the goblin lunges forward with its rusty bronze spear, you feel the rush of adrenaline as you spend half your energy dodging the first jab, conserving your energy for the right moment. With a swift sidestep, you evade the thrust and close the distance, bringing your dagger to bear. In one fluid motion, you get ready to stab at the goblin, aiming for a decisive strike before it can react.
Quote from: Strike
4 Vs 5
Just as your dagger is about to pierce the goblin's shoulder, it instinctively parries your strike, its rusty spear deflecting your blade with surprising agility. With a weary grunt, the goblin jumps back, its fatigue evident in its labored movements, but it readies itself for one last desperate thrust.
Quote from: Goblin Strike
2 Vs 1
Despite the goblin's fatigue, you make a bad misstep and this leaves you vulnerable, and you feel the sharp jab of the bronze spear pierce your lower leg, a surge of pain shooting through you, as you feel scratched from the blow. Gritting your teeth, you quickly regain your focus, channeling your frustration into one last swift swing of your dagger. With quick focus you notice the ability to swing rapidly with your dagger, as you aim for the goblin, hoping to land a decisive jab.
Quote from: Attack Speed Check
Succeeded
Quote from: Strike
2 Vs 2
Your awkward stab connects, driving the dagger into the goblin's side, and you can see the creature wince as it struggles to maintain its footing as it now as it looks hurt and pretty off-balanced. Breathing heavily, the goblin leans against its spear for support, clearly worn from the fight and desperate for a moment to catch its breath, it seems like it’s going to try and recuperate some energy back and go for another poke.

Spoiler: Current Room (click to show/hide)

Gillieaus, Floor 1, Room 1
Taking a moment to catch your breath, you feel your stamina return, as you are now Energized. As you open the lockbox, a glint of gold catches your eye—five gold pieces scattered within, alongside a bottle filled with an orangish-yellow liquid capped with red cap, and a thin string protruding from it, sparking with very tiny flashes of electricity. You also count the ten arrows inside your leather quiver, a reminder of your limited archery skills, while the mysterious circle of purple light on the far side of the room continues to pulse, beckoning you to explore further.

Quote
Bash the Skeleton in the head with the mace again. If it kindly decides to return to being dead after bashing it in the skull, Pick up the Torch from the floor and investigate the circles
Quote from: Strike
2 Vs 2
Though your movement was messy, you muster your courage and charge at the clawing undead skeleton, dodging its feeble attempts to grab you. With a powerful swing, you land a solid smash against its brittle skull, and the skeleton crumbles to the ground in a heap of shattered fragments. As you catch your breath, a wave of relief washes over you—victory is yours in your first combat encounter. (+1 XP)
Quote from: Investigate Check
5
After dusting yourself off, your curiosity draws you closer to the now pulsating purple circle on the far side of the room. As the light intensifies, you squint at the intricate runes and alien symbols etched inside, feeling a sense of awe despite your limited knowledge of the arcane. With each glance, you realize these runes must harness immense magical power, likely tied to high-level conjuration spells or even teleportation, something you would never be capable of playing with as of the current moment as a fledgling adventurer, and you can't help but marvel at the thought that these might actually be things called artifacts, items and gear throughout the world so powerful, that they are above humanoid-level magic, may be able to endure through the end of all time, the energy and batteries for these circles seemingly infinite and undying. The glow draws you in, as you have nothing of note in the room except that broken torch laying across the ground and skeleton bits.

Reiko, Floor 1, Room 1
Quote
Ooh, a whip. Just my style.

I retrieve my rewards from the lockbox, and begin strafing away from the encroaching slime, navigating around the edges of the room. I try to keep a safe distance, eyes fixed on my potential enemy. Is it capable of communication, I wonder. It doesn't appear to display signs of intelligence, but looks can be deceiving.

I snap my whip in the air, loud enough for the slime to hear (if it has ears). "Hey, buddy! You get many visitors here?" I wonder if it's seen my brother Taro
In a flurry of motion, you hastily loot the lockbox, managing to grab the gold and the mysterious bottle just in time to feel the weight of the leather whip in your hands. However, your quick actions have caught the attention of the coyote-sized green slime which was already protruding out an extension of itself against you, in which it lashes out at you with a slimy pseudopod, its patience wearing thin. You try to hopefully dodge, in time.
Quote
Slime Strike: 6 Vs 6
Just as you think you’ve evaded the pseudopod, it strikes one of your thighs with alarming speed, the acidic touch searing your skin and leaving mild painful burns in its wake, as you feel scratched from the pain. You gasp as the slime’s corrosive properties even eat away at your peasant clothing, the fabric disintegrating under the relentless assault. Wincing in agony, as you attempt to move away and snap your whip in the air and try to intimidate the slime.
Quote from: Intimidation Check?
2
You swiftly retreat to another edge of the room, lashing your whip in an attempt to intimidate the mindless slime, quipping, "Hey, buddy! You get many visitors here?" However, as you observe its unchanging form and relentless advance, it becomes clear that the slime lacks any capacity for communication or reaction, moving closer with an unsettling purpose. Just then, two pseudopods extend from its gelatinous body, reaching out toward you with hungry intent. As the slime is now within melee range of both of you. What do you do next?

Dodge and Slash the goblin
Quote from: Goblin Strike
3 Vs 3+1
The goblin lunges at you with all its might, you notice the sickle of the goblin having more reach than your dagger, but your quick reflexes and the metal block's presence save you as you dodge just in time, its weapon scraping against the block with a loud metallic clank across the room. Breathing heavily, the goblin stumbles back, clearly exhausted from its failed attack and taken aback by your agility. Seizing the moment, you attempt to slash across the goblin.
Quote from: Strike
6 Vs 1
Quote from: Critical Hit Chance
Succeeded
Your slash catches the goblin off guard, tearing a deep gash across its shoulder and neck, leaving it looking very hurt and pretty off-balanced from the blow. With a snarl, it steels itself, preparing to retaliate, its eyes narrowing as it shifts into a defensive stance. It seems it’s going to spend one of its actions trying to dodge, next round, surprised at your ferocity.

Power Attack while it's weakened. Gimmie a crit.
Quote from: Rat Move
Succeeded
As you attempt to power attack the giant rat, you realize it's still cowering at the center of the room, conflicted between fear and hunger away from the range of your dagger, hopefully it moves closer. Suddenly, its hunger instincts kick in, and it charges at you, desperation driving its movements. Seizing the opportunity, you channel all your energy into a swift jab, aiming to catch the creature off guard and put an end to its advance.
Quote from: Power Attack
1 Vs 5
Your all-out jab misses its target completely, leaving you feeling drained but still somewhat active and vulnerable from the failed attempt. Seizing the moment, the giant rat leaps at you, its sharp teeth bared, aiming to gnaw at your flesh. You instinctively brace yourself for impact, knowing you must act quickly to defend against this ferocious attack.
Quote from: Rat Strike
4-1 (Fear) Vs 4
As the rat leaps toward your shoulder, its fear holds it back just enough for you to react. You quickly shove the creature away, using its own momentum against it, causing it to stumble and miss its bite. The rat skids to the side, still wrestling with its fear and hunger, leaving you a moment to regain your composure. You feel the quickness of your dagger in your hand and try to make a second jab.
Quote from: Attack Speed Check
Success
Quote from: Strike
2 vs 1
Despite your fatigue from your previous power attack, you seize the opportunity to deliver a quick jab into the prone rat, leaving it somewhat hurt and somewhat off-balanced. However, as it regains its footing, the fear in its eyes vanishes, replaced by a fierce determination. With a newfound resolve, the rat looks ready to lunge at you, teeth bared and ready to bite, it looks like it will try to bite you wildly next turn.

Spoiler: Current Room (click to show/hide)

More Things To Note: Accurate Attack, also increases the chances of critting with any attack! both Power Attack and Accurate Attack, however, both of these 2-action strikes reduce attack speed.

Block: Blocking is a very effective way to take no damage!, note that some weapons are better at blocking than others, do note that the dagger is extremely bad at this, and unarmed attacks are also pretty ineffective. When a weapons is better at blocking, they have a higher chance of making you lose no stamina on a block!

(I use a bunch of ChatGPT and AI text generator websites to make the text sound better, but it’s hard to re-edit them to make it sound grammatically correct!

Also trying to ride a rat the size of a coyote/border collie, are you sure your not trying to break it’s back?)

Aww, you shouldn't use AI too much; if you write yourself you'll get better at it over time. There was some study that said that people who use AI too much start to get worse at thinking for themselves, so you're probably better off doing it yourself in the longer term.

And yeah, if climbing onto the coyote-sized enemy rat breaks its back, I'd be fine with that outcome. It is an enemy after all, and not tamable on account of its apparent rabes! If it weren't rabid I would be putting all of my efforts into trying to tame it, of course, because I love rats, but as is it's best to put this one out of its misery. The text about riding it is just in case its stronger than its size suggests and it could actually keep standing with me on top.

I wince at my scratch. The slime is evidently not going to cooperate. I feel foolish for even considering otherwise.

Seeing its tentacles perched to strike, I speedily dodge to the side. My grip firm, I launch a horizontal strike with my whip, attempting to slash through the core of the gelantinous fiend.

Turn 5: Butchering of Bats and the Second Room!
Gillieaus, Floor 1, Room 1
Quote from: Butcher Check
4
Quote
Butcher bat corpse with my dagger. Investigate orangish-yellow liquid
With a determined resolve, you plunge your knife into the corpse of the monstrous bat, fighting against the overwhelming stench that threatens to make you retch. Successfully dissecting the creature, after a good amount of time you are able to lay it’s body parts across the grounds. You are able to extract two bat wings, a chunk of its meat and fat, bat bones and it’s skull, and some internal organs such as its heart to intestines. (You can take a maximum of three items off of it’s body parts) all while struggling to maintain your composure. Though you were no butcher in your previous life, necessity drives you to adapt, proving that even the most unlikely skills can be useful, then you go and try to identify this weird flask you are holding.
Quote from: Identify Check
5
After ten minutes of identifying the item, you easily recognize the orange-yellow liquid flask as "Bottled Lightning," a volatile alchemical creation designed to unleash a powerful electrical blast upon exposure to air. The paper label inscribed in arcane script confirms it as a Lesser Bottled Lightning, the most basic and weakest version of this explosive potion, yet still capable of dealing significant shock and stun damage to foes. As you hold the flask, you can't help but feel a thrill of potential energy, knowing that even this humble concoction could turn the tide in a heated confrontation.

Well, now that that's over, lets get out of this room. Grab the torch (If the magic in it still works) In my non-mace hand, and proceed to another room!
Wielding an iron mace in one hand and a half-bent, broken torch in the other, you step toward the pulsating purple circle, feeling the familiar surge of energy as your body dissipates from existence. When you reappear, your eyes gradually adjust to the light of a long rectangular room, where four steel-mounted torches flicker along the walls; limestone tiles are the only floor you have for this room. In the center, a large brown chest looms ominously, with a rusty lock on it and waiting, while to your right, a motionless skeleton is slumped across the ground, a leather satchel draped over its bony frame. Two non-glowing purple circles exist faintly in the corners of the room, such as the one you are standing on.

As you grip the whip tightly, you quickly realize it offers you greater reach than the slime's pseudopods, which have a similar range of swords and similar weapons. With a swift motion, you lash out, piercing into the green slime creature heaviliy; a large chunk of its gelatinous form splatters onto the ground, revealing the effectiveness of your strike as it is now looking wounded and slightly off-balanced. Though the whip inflicts only low damage comparable to your trusty dagger, it seems to have very low stun damage, its attack speed is pretty average, and the chance of critting seems average as well. Though you are satisfied with your first usage of it, the slime tries to stretch the remaining part of its body against you.
Quote from: Slime Strike
4 Vs 5+1
As you expend half of your energy with the whip's reach, you deftly lash out at the first acidic pseudopod lunging toward you, narrowly dodging its grasp. The slime remains an emotionless entity, its gelatinous form undulating without any hint of intent, preparing to strike again. Just as you regain your footing, a second pseudopod shoots out wildly, closing the distance rapidly…
Quote from: Slime Strike
6 vs 4+1
The second pseudopod strikes against you with blinding speed, lashing across your knees and igniting a fiery, acidic pain that sears through your body despite your defensive stance. Gritting your teeth you feel somewhat hurt, you struggle to recover for a second. Meanwhile, you notice the half-dead slime shifting, seemingly channeling all of its remaining energy for its next attack, what is your next move?

Accurately Slash the goblin
Quote from: Goblin Strike
2 Vs 1
In the tense standoff across the metal block in the center of the room, you realize the goblin's sickle boasts a longer reach than your own weapon. Just as you blink, the wicked blade plunges directly into your side, sending a jolt of pain coursing through you and catching you off guard, you now feel scratched from the blow. Gritting your teeth, you channel all your remaining energy into a focused attempt to slash across the goblin.
Quote from: Strike
5+2 (Accurate Attack) Vs 2+1 (Goblin’s Dodge
Pouring every ounce of your energy into the strike, you land a precise slash with your dagger across the goblin's leather armor, the blade biting into its side. The goblin winces, a sharp gasp escaping its lips as it struggles to catch its breath as it now clearly wounded and heavily off-balanced, clearly rattled by your sudden counterattack. It looks like the creature is trying to catch a breath in the following round.

4 vs 5+1 (Dodge)
Just as you brace yourself to grapple with the brown-furred, coyote-sized rat, it lunges forward wildly, attempting to sink its teeth into your ankles. Thanks to your defensive stance, you manage to easily sidestep the frenzied bite, narrowly avoiding its sharp fangs. With a surge of determination, you prepare to seize the creature, and try to “mount” it
Quote from: Grapple Check?
3 Vs 3
In a surprising display of strength and agility, you manage to "alligator wrestle" the giant rat, pinning it to the ground as you mount its squirming body. The creature thrashes wildly beneath you, its fur bristling against you at it attempts to buck you off poorly with all its might. Despite its ferocity, you hold your ground, but the creature is able to make one buckle attempt.
Quote from: Buck Off/Escape Grapple
1 Vs 6
The giant rat thrashes beneath you in a desperate attempt to buck you off, foaming at the mouth and emitting a series of high-pitched screeches that pierce the air. Its claws swipe wildly at your hands, but every attempt misses as it struggles in vain, while its tail lashes out futilely, failing to make contact. Despite its chaotic efforts, you maintain your grip, successfully pinning the beast to the ground. It's like you have successfully alligator-wrestled this creature, though its primal instincts are still in effect and will try every bit of energy to throw you off next turn. Sadly, you wish you had rope to hogtie this creature…

"Agh!" I let out a cry of pain. Gritting my teeth, I stare daggers into my uncaring opponent. I refuse to die here. I refuse to be killed by a ****ing blob of gunk.

Gathering all my strength, I push myself off the ground and charge right at my wounded foe. Whip in one hand and dagger in the other, I launch a full on assault with reckless ferocity.
