I once had a giant fire breathing dimetrodon.
What makes it so awesome is that it was a mini-dragon.

Oh yeah, mine was a dimetrodon too.

I actually haven't had too many FB yet, and no really awesome ones.  But I had one with some kind of poison that caused foot-bruising for a couple of weeks, kind of like nanomage's.  I'd see dorfs suddenly go to the hospital to rest.  My doctor would check them out, and upon examination discover that they had bruised feet.  About by the time the doctor would finish diagnosing them, they'd be better, get up and go back to work.  This happened to about a dozen or so dorfs before I guess all the secretions got cleaned up and I never saw it again.

My most epic FB encounter wasn't with an awesome megabeast, but rather the epic battle that occurred with the legless marksman who fought it to a standstill.  Already chronicled here:  http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=83136.0

My favorite was a Towering Cricket, with no eyes, 4 horns, cardinal (blood red) leathery exoskeleton, which breathed fire.

In my Legends once I found something that was like "A giant green glass spider with no eyes. It has clicking mandibles. It squirms and fidgets. Beware its poisonous bite!"

In my mind's eye, that's pretty epic.

Also, in my last fort there was a giant eyeless slug with clicking mandibles and burning blood. It took out about three squads, because it just would not stop bleeding.

Edit: come to think of it, mandibles and a lack of eyes seem to be a consistent theme for me...

You'll have to provide warm, moist kittens at the end of each test chamber.

In my last fort, I had a giant skinless dimetrodon with 3 horns, I believe. It sounded pretty awesome, but got killed by just 2 or 3 military dorfs. I think it rotted before anyone could haul its massive corpse to the butcher, though.

Right now in my current fort, I've breached the first cavern layer, but not much more than a few zombie rodentmen and the occasional zombie troll have appeared. Currently my ragtag, poorly equipped, semi-trained military can handle those, but it's only a matter of time before I have some giant steel spider with flesh rotting dust or something attack.

First the current fort, There has been 7 FBS, all dead. Nasty moment with 4 within the fort proper all at once. Most lethal was during that time, a quadreped made of clear glass with poisonous vapours. Who thought one made out of glass would be so tough to put down. After it was about 4 or 5 dorfs had 2 full pages of injured (every limb swollen with blood and rotten).

Most epic battle, FB in my 3rd fort (alas I forget the description/material)
A crocodile got to my dining room, it got tired and fainted while a host of dogs and puppies attacked it (one puppy was swinging it around by its leg). Fun stuff. Later a FB got to the dining room and also fainted from exhaustion, lulz, more fun monsters being nibbled to death. It Woke Up. OhMyGod. Dog loses a leg, kitten loses a nose, dwarf is swung round by his head, his head is torn away. Ouch. 70 dwarves, numerous dogs and cats. No survivors.

Flame F.b. will die to a single well placed bolt or kick.

I once had a granite quadaraped with a deadly dust that caused lung rot followed by paralysis.  Did not end up beating that one.

Fuck magma or water, use a 40 z level drop instead  :P
magma is alot better to kill nobles than megabeasts or forgotten ones

Drop them how exactly? Bridge won't open with them on it. They are too big to push with water pressure. Cave in the floor under them? Well, okay, but that's a cave in killing them, isn't it?
