DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Which stone for forts?

Personally, I avoid magma-safe rocks or any flux stones for construction. Unless of course, I'm dealing with the blood of the earth on the surface.

Dear 1st wave immigrants,

Please do not give into despair upon seeing Keas, and climb up the several-story-high trees surrounding our developing fortress. Yes, they can pick up minecarts and fly away with them, but do understand that they won't mess with YOU if YOU don't mess with THEM.

Despite the glee that comes to our Lumberdwarf from cutting down the trees you are stuck in, you are making our resident doctor a nervous wreck, which makes ME nervous.

One could get the wrong idea about you all, considering how much "tree-hugging" you have done.

Sincerely,

Your Expedition Leader

Apologies for the wait. The way that I was wanting to bring this story to an "end" didn't pan out the way I intended. It was such a shame, as it took a long time to pull it off, and it didn't work. As you're probably aware, there's many easy ways that you could end the fort. But that would be cheap, and I want such a great story to have a matching, suitable ending.

I've had another idea that came to mind, so as soon as I have time this weekend, I will try to accomplish it. My friend that's a writer may or may not help me flesh out the story, too.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Tavern brawls

I personally wouldn't mind it as much if it were just scuffles with bruises, broken bones, and such. But when it's your legendary militiadwarves duking it out with the peasantry, it's a bloodbath without consequences. Has anybody had dwarfs get arrested for killing from this? I've yet to see it.

Alright, I accept the suicide mission. I'll try to blaze a trail of glory as best as I can. Where do I get the save (never done a succession fort before)?
And here is the save: http://dffd.bay12games.com/download.php?id=12559&f=Murderflood+219.rar
Gwolfski never posted one.

I did? http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=12681

Thank you kindly, I'll get to crackin' as soon as possible.

I see y'all are needing someone desperately to pick up the mantel and continue the fort. I'm willing, but just be warned I'm not familiar with magma pumps, or huge mega projects involving complex amounts of machinery. I am, however, quite intrigued by it all. I'm also not green, I've played since ~2012. So I know enough to keep the fort alive. Basically, I might royally screw up this place (unless y'all want to go out in a blaze of g[l]ory).

With that said, do y'all still want me to give it a go? If so, send me the save. I'll try to get on it tonight or tomorrow sometime. Also, DF 40.4 right?

I remember posting to watch this about two thread switches ago back in 2015. It was a slow day at the bookstore, and after I had PTW, things got busy so I forgot about it. Present day, I saw it in my "show new replies to your posts" area, and I remembered my initial awe at the thought of murder-lava-death-fort incarnate.

I hope y'all haven't abandoned this fort.

PTW! Let's do it.

This looks promising. I look forward to seeing what all happens! I might even be interested for a turn sometime, work permitting! =)

Skilled Pacifier my ass.

No, I find it quite true. He "pacified" the berserk Glazer in standard dwarf procedure.

Dwarf Fortress, you never disappoint. This is too funny!  :P

Hello!

I'm really enjoying the mod, Grimlocke. Thanks for making it, I wish I had started using it sooner!

I have a question though: I started a new fortress, and brought along 7 daggers. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my civvies to equip their daggers. Was I mistaken in thinking that the following quote was talking about your dwarf civilians in Fortress Mode (rather than Adventure Mode)?

Quote
Added a number of civilian weapons - By making them tools with various uses civilians now carry daggers and cudgels.
