Why is it every time I post I kill it? I give up.

Flaming soapmakers attempt to collect all items on the ground and store them in a pile in the center of the arena.

They also light the items on fire as they do it.

A necromancer in the crowd begins to reanimate the thrown flaming soapmakers to liven up the fight.

The crowd decides to start building a giant statue just outside the arena to animate into a giant wrecking machine of ultimate slaughter.

The crowd starts channeling water over to the middle of the arena from a nearby river, hoping that the resident carp will liven things up.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / They Came From Below!

So I recently breached the HFS in my most recent fort, and in an effort to contain the demons, I tried to floor off the stairs leading to the mines.

To my extraordinary dismay, I get the message of "Toad McFrogdemon has destroyed a rock floor", and I zip down to see a demon shredding to pieces and splattering his remains across the mines.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Basic Goals: you gotta get them.

-Make it through the first winter
-Reach the Dwarven Economy
-Seiged for the first time
-Ambushed for the first time
-Have at least one champion in your military
-Kill a caravan of elves
-Over Complicate a simple task.
-Survive an Ambush
-Survive a Siege
-Experience emotion towards one of your dwarves
-Reach your fortress in adventure mode
-Kill a semi-megabeast in adventure
-Become the enemy of a civilization
-Find at least one underground feature (both, in dwarf mode, and adventure)

Advanced:
-Fun with magma
-See every underground feature

-Water structure
-Mega-construction
-make a creature on your map extinct
-build an arena
-build an execution chamber
-Get through 5 Years in fortress mode
-Don't kill Migrants (is this really that hard?)
-Do something that makes you feel absolutely dwarven
-Get through an aquifer
-Fortress on "unsustainable" land
-Learn acsII graphics

-Wage war on all vanilla civs (excluding dwarves)
-Self-destruct a fortress
-kill a noble
-make soap
-get a king (HFS not counting)

Extra-hard:
-Reach 200 dwarves
-Smooth a mountain
-Do a Giga-construction (must span multiple z-levels, and have a large base)
-blot out the sun.
-Get through 10 years in fortress mode
-Defend your fortress Successfully without traps.


Extra-curicular: Overtime fun stuff.
-Play a mod
-Make your own creature
-invent a new weapon
-join a community fort
-Do a bloodline/succession game
-Challange fortress
  -Build an Above ground fortress.
-Run a community fortress
-Report a never before seen bug
-donate to Toady

Thats all I can think of right now...

I feel kinda accomplished...

My first Fell mood was my most amazing ever.

I play DF at work, and my coworkers get a kick out of it when I name them after dwarves, and then tell them whats happening to them.

Anywho, one of them gets a Fell mood, and I'm like, HOLY CRAP FINALLY, because I'd always wanted one. So I pan over to him and its one of my coworkers dwarves, so I call him over so he can watch him murder someone. The dwarf then walks over to ANOTHER dwarf I'd named after a coworker, murdered him, and made him into a bone bed.

Wasn't worth crap, but it was still epic in my book. Best artifact ever: Dwarf Bone Bed.

I read the previous message, but I was under the impression that "Vermin" classes of creatures were their own class of creature. I don't know much about them beyond the fact that they can be created in a smelting reaction, so I thought that MAYBE it could be done, since they can already be artifically created.

So you'd be able to play DF on the computer and occasionally check your DS to pause/unpause for announcements?

I have no experience with this whatsoever, but I do have a DS, so it sounds like an amazing idea.

Would you be able to do it anywhere? Or would you be limited to only using your DS in the same building/radius as your computer?

What keys would be most useful, aside from pause/unpause?

Very interesting stuff.

I really really want to see the Burrows arc done, but I'm pretty sure Caravans will come first, or County.
