Which is the old Arcade games is the one with spaceships with random wiring? The Adams brother's made a rougelike  celebration video where they discussed their inspirations and early games that helped them learn a lot. It showed a really cool slide where there was an unnamed real time space ship game with random ships. With a wiring system. It looked like it had pixel based graphics. But with procedural generation of the wiring and basic ship shapes at a minimum. Maybe, more? it intrigued me. I looked at the curses arcade pages. And none of the names stand out as it. Although, I guess I could try booting them all up in case it turns out to be that game.

You have been reincarnated to another world as an infant:

Your name was Charles Stewart. But now it has changed. You died. The memory of the event evades your grasp.  You first woke surprised to see light. Your eyes squinted and you could hardly see. Your cry of surprise sounded across the entire area.  Many people heard your piercing scream. You were swiftly deposited into the arms of a huge woman who looks down at you. You could not make out anything about her your vision swam together. You looked at the blurred colors of your mother’s face and clothes. You heard her soft voice as she proclaimed a single word. “Ignis”

You nursed before sleep claimed your fragile body. You awoke several times upon a huge fluffy rug. When you cried it took a little while, but a huge woman came after a minute or two and nursed you. It was difficult for you to stay awake, so you rested your head and slept again and again. The time you were awake seems short. But after over a couple of dozen times of this happening. You finally were able to stay awake long enough to do anything.

Now, you attempt to move but you only manage to wiggle a handbreadth. This happens several times before you notice that the mat you rest on is brown. Now you are less tired, and you recently managed to move four handbreadths before falling asleep. The next time you awake, you realize you have the time to think. So, you think about what you feel and what you want to do.

You think about the words said around you. The word you hear most is “Ignis”. It was said with a hissing sound that is like a shushing sound. You don’t know if it means the same thing for them. Once, the huge woman drew out her vowels and changed her tone and rhythm of speaking. You think she was singing, but you could not tell what the words were. You do not remember her speaking any other words more than once. How do you want to approach language? (Please rank in order of preference-. You only need to give your top 2 picks.)

OOC. I am rebooting Infant tale with the same first post. I have cross-posted it to sufficient velocity at https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/infant-tale-ii-you-reincarnated-to-another-world-isekai-quest-in-original-setting.64441/ I have more planning done this time than last time so hopefully, it should be easier for me to create updates. I will take into account votes from both forums. I can't really stop you if you try to vote on both forums. But, you will know if you were dishonest.

Please allow singing poetry recital, and storytelling while moving. I think it would be amazing to be able to sing while marching through town or tell a story of a previous battle while in the middle of a fight.

4
Please allow saving equipment list and skill choices in adventure mode. I really enjoy having the ability to customize starting equipment in adventure mode. However I can easily spend a good 5 or 6 hours outfitting a party. If there was an option to save templates in adventure like in the fortress mode embark sequence then I would enjoy it.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / GridLand Survival 4: A New Beginning
« on: December 09, 2018, 06:10:55 pm »
Welcome everyone to Gridland Survival 4

This game is being run collaboratively by both High Tyrol and Supernerd
The mechanics are based upon Gridland Survival 3 but there have been changes.

Welcome to Gridland Survival! Its a variation of a series of games previously played on the MSPA forums and Chocolate Pi called Gridhood. The gimmick with this game is that it contains only one major civilization; of which each player is a member. The game will start off being fairly simple, with new rules being added as things happen. You will be hunting for food, exploring new lands, researching technology, fending off monster attacks and maybe participating in an election or something.

Previous knowledge of Gridhood is not required to fully enjoy this game.

Rules (More will be added later. All rules will be added to the first post)

Signup Sheet
Here is the signup sheet. You will get five-character abilities as well as one species ability. Character abilities can be summed up in a single word or you can give a short description of it. This can be physical traits, personality traits or whatever else you can think of. Feel free to be creative here. The first two abilities are positively weighted for inheritance.

Prior to filling out the Signup Sheet...
You are not intended to pick from the list of pre-existing abilities. Every single one of the abilities on that list was initially created because it was on an application in the first place. While you are allowed to pick pre-existing skills, I formally discourage you from doing that. Bonus points for not picking the most common gender for your character.

There has been confusion with new players applying to join the game. To clarify, you are NOT supposed to include a description of what abilities do. Just include the names (If it needs a description to understand you are better off picking something else). If you scroll down a bit you can see the first few player's application who signed up. I will also point out that it is recommended to create your own abilities as opposed to picking them from the list below. (Though it is probably acceptable if you pick a few abilities that already exist).

Note: The game has not started yet
before the first update please post to thread.
Also, it is preferred to send me a PM with the character sheet as opposed to posting it in the thread.

Note: I have seen  some confusion because I forgot to add the spots in the signal template.
To Clarify you get five abilities.

Note 2: This shade of purple has been reserved for GM use. If you want you can reserve a color for your characters speech before the game starts.

Note 3: No cyborg characters for this game.

Note 4: A character ability is an ability which only your character has. A species ability is an ability you want all players to have as well. The species abilities will be used to determine what your species is like.

Welcome everyone to GridLand Survival 3

In this version of GridLand Survival, you all are members of a species which has been transplanted from your home world to a new world that is strange, yet fairly similar to your home.
This game will not be as fantastical as Supernerd's game. but I will still try to be flexible.

I took Supernerd's version and I trimmed down anything I did not think I would need.
So i could start with a distilled version of the rules and expand it as needed. I will also add clarifications as the game progresses and I develop the mechanics further.
I am hoping for an organic mechanic design. That has entertaining surprise, but remains easy to understand.

I will be starting with 5 players but plan to add more on around turn 5 at the earliest. I will be steadily adding more players till I ether hit my limit or no one wants to join.

A vote on how quickly time flows.
-Fast(around eight in-game-years in thirty-three turns)
-medium
-slow(around around two in-game-years in thirty-three turns)

Finally vote on a Difficulty:

Pathetic Loser.
Normal
Hard
Punishing
Elite
Malicious
1st Circle
!!The Lake of!!
!!Fun!! (Please don't pick this if you don't want to be put through torture Fun)

Note: Any difficultly lower than 1st circle may be changed by a 3/4 vote at any time. The difficulty may be increased at any difficulty by a majority vote.
Reducing the difficulty to Pathetic loser is only possible after a player character dies.
To start on the difficulty Pathetic Loser you must have a unanimous vote among starting players and have at least 2 wait-listed players support the idea before the first update.

DF Suggestions / Some Music system improvements
« on: June 07, 2018, 05:53:26 pm »
I really enjoy playing adventure mode and I find bard characters fun to play.
But I noticed a few small things I think could be done to improve the performance system in Adventurer mode.

Better Filters
I think that under the performance menu in adventure mode that there should be better filters.
I think you should be able to either sort or filter pieces of music, poetry, and dances by form.
I also think that you should be able to filter or sort songs by instruments.
When playing a bard type character it can be difficult to sort through a huge list of songs. Finding if there are any songs which use an instrument you actually have is time consuming.

Other Changes
I think you should be able to use previously written poetry for songs that require a poem for lyrics.
Being able to influence the instruments used in a song would be nice.
It would also be nice to be able to generate new musical forms as an adventurer.
You should be able to play instruments to sing or accompany a dance. Currently if you dance and The is music for it npcs will do the musical part automatically even if it has an instrumental accompaniment. There seems to be no apparent option to play music which will accompany a dance and have npcs dance.
(Note:it may be that this is possible but I just missed how it is done but it is possible.)

P.S. I have a few bugs I found related to this system but I realized I don’t know how to report bugs.
