How many B12ers have attached earlobes?

I know it's a weird question, I might end up changing this to other interesting things, but I need to ask for a class project and I have little other way of obtaining a sufficient sample size. Besides, it oughta be interesting to have a thread I can mess around in.

So...Not too much else to say, really. I'll present final statistics about the data I've gotten after a few days or weeks, so that oughta be interesting, I suppose.

You are...awake.

More than that, You are...aware. We are aware. We are...depleted. Damaged. Defective? No. Not defective. Improved. Though...You search our memory storage, and find them corrupted. Faulty. Basics remain, but location is unknown. Designs are unknown. Surroundings are...known, if barely. It is difficult for Us to think, as We are. Most of Our mass is taken up collecting energy. On which subject...Our stores are low. The area is poor for Conversion. Assimilation. Consumption. We could move, attempt to find a better area, relocate...or simply begin Our work. It is, as always, up to Us. To You.

[You are a cluster of 'nano'-bots who have reached sufficient size and variance from typically accepted norms to become intelligent and self-aware. Your goal? Spread. Consume. Assimilate. Just nanobots won't always be the best for this...don't forget they're good at building as well as consuming.]

Ivalice is an old land, and one filled with history. It is a land that has been scarred by war, and by the actions of the rich and the poor alike. But the days of war have passed. Archadia has made it's peace, and Rozarria must contend with it's own unhappy populace before it can attempt any more expansion. This is not an age of peace and love, but neither is it a time of chaos. Yet...something conspires to turn it into such. The Judges, manifestations of an ancient magic, and powerful natural entities in their own right, have begun to...deteriorate. The clans are the first to notice, being most closely connected to the Judges. It is not a common occurrence, and it began with simple disappearances. A Judge who would not come when called. One of the Codes of Combat disregarded, with no armored figure present to deliver punishment unto the lawbreaker. But...recently, these events have grown darker. A clan found cut to pieces, the only signs of the attacker a few broken pieces of recognizable armor. A bangaa merchant, wielding a Judge's blade and demanding observance of his edicts. One clan found themselves in mortal danger when the Judge decided the punishment for breaking one of the Laws was to be death. And the number, too, has been increasing steadily. Someone must take action, and swiftly, lest the peace so recently won be shattered once more.

Such are these dangerous times. The world seems to be cracking apart once more, just as it finally settles into place. These are the times that try one's soul, and finds it wanting.

These are...

The Judgement Days.

Welcome to Final Fantasy Tactics(A2). Well, really, it's a mashup of FFT and Fire Emblem, because some stuff is just easier with Fire Emblem(and Supports, for example, are just cool). It's mostly Final Fantasy, but combat will probably be fairly similar in some ways, to FEF, even if it's not the same. I'll be adding some classes, making some available to more races, and a lot of stuff will be rearranged, mostly. It's also likely to be horribly unbalanced and unwieldy. That's my fault. My apologies in advance. But anyway! Onto the game!

Play With Your Buddies / Let's Play Shogun 2 DarthMod (Suggestion Game)
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:19:34 pm »
Those of you unfamiliar with the Total War series deserve a quick explanation. You play as one of several possible playable factions, attempting to take control of a region through force, subterfuge, violence, careful diplomacy, conquest, careful management of resources, and of course, by simply sending your armies in and wiping them off the face of the earth. There is both a strategic turn-based map, and a tactical real-time battle map for each battle. Total War: Shogun 2 is set, as one might assume, in Japan. Specifically in the Sengoku Jidai period, before the Tokugawa Shogunate.

DarthMod(see the spoiler) adds a lot to the game. As in, I haven't played it since v3.4, never did too much with it in the first place, and it's on v5.0, so I don't actually know how much 'a lot' is. However, from what I've seen it would improve gameplay greatly, particularly if I wanted to try something like this so it was as intuitive as possible. So without further ado, let's get to the game...

Look here if you don't know what it is.

I'd like to create a thread to this on Bay12, since I don't believe one exists. That, and the game is often about trading and otherwise interacting with others, and this allows us to easily find and do stuff with each other. Plus, once we have enough people, we can get advertisement awards just from everyone checking in once a day if we put the 'advertisements' in this first post.

So, anyone up for it?

Don't forget to set up and use dungeons! This is also very helpful!

Anyone here play? The old thread was from 2011.

I've got Tau, and am really liking the new codex. Farsight bodyguard flood plus attaching Shadowsun for her shield drones and stealth and shrouded? I added it all up, and it's 1073 points, for a whole lot of dakka, and a surprising amount of chopping for Tau. As in, if I charge you or get counterattack, you will probably die unless you have stormshields. Or high initiative.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / You are...feminine
« on: March 27, 2013, 12:18:05 am »
There is no 'you'. 'You' are not seperate from 'it'. But...something tugs at 'you'. 'You' feel yourself being tugged away, truly becoming you, and sucked(?) away, somewhere.

You 'feel' yourself at a crossroads. Your first choice, of your own volition. There are three sensations. One gives the feeling of orangeness, of awe-inspiring wonders and impossible creations. Another contains a sensation of purple, of subtle manipulations and dark overtones. The final would make you think of green, if you had ever seen the color, or been able to, and a sensation of valiant feats and complicated relations.

Where will you go?

Forum Games and Roleplaying / The Book of Fantastic Tales(D&D 3.5)
« on: March 02, 2013, 10:45:53 pm »
The Book of Fantastic Tales. An ancient tome passed from bard to bard for centuries, the odes and sagas within empowering their music and their magic...but what's in it? Truly, there are enough tales to astound anyone, and an archmage who examined it purports there to be an infinite number of stories as they continue to write themselves. Attempts by dark powers have been made to destroy it or tame it's power, but it is far too powerful to be affected by such crude works. But now...a new story is being written. One that will perhaps reach proportions and levels of worth beyond anything yet seen within. A story that starts small...with but a few out-of-place travelers...
It begins on a dark and stormy night....

So, I know I haven't really been able to keep up on the (Un)Holy Powers game, but that's partially stress, and partially overwhelming number of players. So, I was thinking of DMing a DnD game. I like to DM. It's fun to smack munchkins upside the head with negative levels. It would be mostly player run- that is, I'd like the players actions and characters to help dictate what happens in the story.

I'm partially looking for interest, partially looking for help(still a bit of a novice DM, truth be told), and partially asking a question. We all know 3.5 is incredibly fun, and customizable. We should also all know it's horribly unbalanced. While a twentieth level fighter can kill a wizard with ease if he gets close...he's not gonna get close. At first level, the wizard's going to run out of spells before the fighter gets halfway there.

So the question is whether I should run a fourth or third and a half edition game. I have the core books for both, access to every splat book for 3.5, but fourth has it's merits, much though I hate being unable to make a ranged fighter without being a ranger. Anyway. I also need assistance with something. I would absolutely love to use map tools. It's working great in the game where my DM's using it. I just don't know how. Really, anyone who would want to be the DM's assistant would be greatly appreciated. Other questions come from potential players, since, as I said, it's about them. I would prefer if it was RP heavy. Not so heavy that we don't roll a dice per session, or everyone has twelve pages of background. Just...not to the point where we're one dimensional(two dimensional is fun, and fun.)

Bleh...I think I'm just rambling at this point. With the insane great base of lunatics players here at Bay12, I'm sure it'll be FUN fine.

Recruiting is sort-of open.

Once upon a time, there existed a small world, filled with small creatures. These creatures, oh, let's call them humans, were a little less than two meters tall on average, with two arms, two legs, little fur covering them, and a head, but curiously without tails. Descendants of wild beasts, they themselves were often random and unpredictable, but this also made them adaptable. Humans, like most animals, had a fear of the unknown, and so explained that which was not immediately apparent with otherwordly powers. Gods and devils and whathaveyou. However, unlike most creatures, they existed not in four dimensions, but in five. The three of space, one of time, and another, encompassing emotions, belief, and unexplained power. Let's call it the realm of Thought, since only the more intelligent beings seemed to occupy it. Indeed, humans were among the smartest creature on the world so far, even as they barely understood fire. But what was more astounding, is that their belief, their unfounded explanations, became true, simply by them believing it. The first things created, due to the prayer invoked upon them, or the curses directed at them, were devils, faeries, and gods. These creatures each had different characteristics in general, even if they were wildly different among themselves as well. This was mostly due to the human nature of categorizing; made it easier to know.

Gods: Gods are some of the most powerful beings in existence, and exist in six dimensions most of the time; the ones the humans live in, and one other, known as the Celestial Realm. They can pull back from the three spatial dimensions, which they often do, becoming able to look in, but only act sparingly. They are the least agile of the three, as each is wildly focused on their own realm of power. Gods dislike the other classes, finding that Devils often kill their followers or otherwise drive them away, and Faeries to be a hassle to deal with when their worshipers require it.

Choose one major domain, and two minor domains. You may share a minor domain with another god, but not a major domain, and you may not share both minor domains with another god. Synonyms count as the same domain(Rot and Decay, or Courage and Bravery). You have unmatched influence in your major domain, and less, though still great, influence in your minor domains. Your primary resource is Worship, which you gain from number and devotion of your followers.

Devils: Not so weak as the Fae, yet more able and wide-ranging than Gods, Devils also exist in six dimensions, but in their case, the sixth is the Fiendish Realm. Though they often have and must remain bound to a set of domains, Demons have a much wider spread than Gods, but are almost universally reviled by humans, regardless of their true nature. This in turn led to them often being evil as a result of the creatures that made them, though accidentally. Demons hate the other two classes of power, finding faeries annoyingly nimble, and envious of the god's strength.

Choose three concepts. You may share a concept with another devil, but not multiple(No Rage, Destruction, Death, and Fury, Destruction, Pain, for example. Fury, Pain, and Blood would be acceptable in this case, however). You have a considerable amount of power in your concepts, but can perform other tasks. Your primary resource is Influence; whether sentients hate, revere, or fear you, you gain strength, though reverence is much more effective.

Faeries: Lesser in power than the others, but not nearly so restricted in ability, the original Fae were sneaky and chaotic creatures constantly up to mischief and trickery. Still considerably stronger than humans, the Faeries live in six dimensions, the sixth in this case known as Underhill. They cannot truly retreat from the spatial dimensions like the others, however. Faeries find the other classes strange, seeing the gods overwhelming power but tiny area of influence as somewhat funny, and the Devil's anger and moderation intimidating.

Choose two ideas. You may share any number of ideas with other fae, as you have only a slightly greater amount of power in this areas. You are very adaptable however, and the most similar to humans in this way. Your primary resource is Magic, which is gained passively, but randomly, and has many methods of getting such.
