Other Games / Re: Empyrion: Galactic Survival

Empyrion has some fun building stuff but the missions are terrible, especially anything involved first person - enemies with instant hitscan weapons that simply eat your health (no dodging or taking cover, popup and shoot barely works), infinite respawns which make dying and backtracking the only real viable tactics. I was on a replay and once I got to a certain infected capital ship mission I decided to just ignore the main story missions. Still feels a bit of a slog trying to find the mats to make a decent ship with shields to avoid losing blocks all the time.

The things in the DLC are cosmetic variants of free things. All the new guns in the videos are part of the free update.

Interesting is how little Haley reacts to getting crotch-kicked by Serini. It generally works just as well on women as it does men, in that it friggin' hurts.

Remember this is just an unarmed strike from a halfling. Even if it was a crit, it would be 2d2+Dex Mod. If Serini has 20 Dex, that would still be only 7 to 9 damage.

You don't add Dex to damage in that edition, not even with Weapon Finesse.

Even in "the main multiverse", the only reason I can see that Beholders are this way or that way is their own hatred of mutation that keeps them more or less the same. I can easily see a Beholder mutation resulting in a variant not being super paranoid if their genetic/dream whatever makeup is not purged from existence at birth.

Other Games / Re: Terraria - 1.3 released. Big Patch!
« on: May 27, 2021, 01:05:52 pm »
I do a mixture, I make a main "peaceful" base where I won't do any big mining or Hardmode, then make another world where I plan to do a full playthrough, dig as needed, but end up making a full base anyway just because I need the tier-appropriate NPCs to spawn. I don't do a LOT of random tunneling for ores in this one, just enough to get me to next tier. Then I make throwaway worlds as needed, to supplement the mining and dirt and stone collection, or spawning chests etc.

EDIT: Oh, I also sometimes make a separate "vault" map in case I plan to do multiplayer at all and want to share my main base, so they don't steal my crap. This one is less for looks and probably looks more like a giant storage yard.

I'm all about goblins getting a fair chance, but please don't turn into the Goblins comic, that one's terrible.

Been playing Breath of the Wild on my PC, with flawless emulation and even mouse aim.

That game can be fun but also brutal.

Looking forward for My Time In Portia, loved the full demo.
Stranded Deep is also a pretty interesting small survival sandboxy kinda game.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That reminds me, when I beat Morrowind, I never got the chance to fight the BBEG, as he ran towards me and then somehow jumped into the lava.

I just started playing a week ago on a PVE server called Severed Realms.

It was near the top of the list when I sorted by number of players, but I think it usually has less than 10 players online.

Everyone starts at around 20 skill and gain is 5x, gets a maintenance-free deed, and it has some QoL mods. It's been fun so far.

Can you still cast spells? Such as Stone Shape?
As long as it doesnt require a verbal compotent, probably. Cant talk while melding or moving through stone.

There's no restriction on the spell against verbal components, only that it's hard to hear what's outside, and you can only target yourself with a spell.

EDIT: You can hear just fine in 3E, the hearing part was added in 5E.

They seem to have moved the assets to a more modern engine. The text seems high res now, but of course all the pixel art is the same and looks weird scaled up.

Follow-up question:

If you think it looks bad, is it because you think the animation/art (style) looks bad in quality? Including other shows where it is used? Is it because it is Star Trek?

Is it the kind of humor?
