Working on a metroidvania~

Just thought I'd leave this topic here.

I'm going to work completely against my normal style, and eschew third-party placeholder graphics.  This is an art-driven project:  Concept art finished before a single line of code is written.  It'll keep me in the right perspective.

I'm not ready to post any art or music yet.  Which...kind of makes this topic a cop-out.  But when I do, you can expect to see underground jungles with their own suns, stark and shadowy descents into catacombs, and dreamscapes that occasionally twist into nightmares.

Yah, you can expect weapon upgrades and movement upgrades.  Some sequence breaking, and multiple endings (a couple of which might depend on it).  A metaphorical story about the indominable spirit, and uplifting a single soul instead of saving the universe.

The game won't be soon, but I'll keep updating with art and music.

Good luck!  Last project even remotely similar that I'd heard tale of was Gentrieve:

Perhaps it'll have some helpful notions to it to churn around and see what sticks?

So we're going to be fighting through someone's psyche to save him/her? This demands cupid references for mythological symmetry.

Better:  You're her subconscious avatar throughout the course of her life, helpfully represented as a single game, albiet in four chapters.  I'm leaning slightly towards eastern symbolism (chakras), but not too heavily.  Different areas of the game can greatly change in appearance over time and across different chapters.  Not to the level of Eversion but still.
