Separate text characters from grapic characters

I would like to be able to make more advanced tile sets, but am limited by the game's mixing of text and tiles. I can't really make a pine tree look more like a pine tree without also making up arrows look like pine trees.

This will probably happen during the Presentation Arc.   Maybe sooner.   It's been suggested a few times and I'm sure it's been noted down.
