What exactly does "deep metal" mean on the embark screen?

If the site is said to have "deep metal" but not shallow metal(s), does this guarantee that there will be one type of ore, and ONLY one type of ore?

Generaly yes, however cotton candy doesent show up. For that its proboly something useless for weapons like serpalite>.>
