Famous Gladiators
« on: November 01, 2016, 12:32:07 am »

mural curtosey of foxtrot (he created and posted this in less than one hour, holy crap!)

You can ask your manager for gear each time you survive a round, and she'll toss you the closest thing around.

Advice: Please the crowd!

Random starting gear upon signup.

Progression: There are 3 acts to your career as a gladiator. Winning is important because it means staying alive but if the crowd isn't impressed, you've made no progress. You need to become, famous.

Act 1 Mook Slave: -1 appeal +2 dodging
Act 2 Recognized Indenturer: +1 dodging
Act 3  Exhabition Freeman: +1 appeal (bonus gameplay, be a boss, special events, you are retired)
(remember you will collect better gear over time)

Turns will be daily. Disclaimer:
I may...

Sometimes or even often take breaks from the game.
Test out mechanics that are different used before.
Bend or break my own rules or expectations about what the game is. This is an experiment and I may even abandon the game. It may not reach any perfect conclusion. Or even last long.

Design goals
Keep myself interested
This means variety and design. Repitition is dull. Though some repatition can invite interesting strategy.
Quick, few turn battles
Real fights do not last as long as they do in the movies. In real life a punch hurts, let alone a sword.

Detoxicus, Nerdelium, Excalia, Toh(Beast), Killius, Jagula

Never ever cease communication with your enemies, never ever cease interaction with them, never isolate yourself from them. Never ignore them, relish the time to deal with them, to exercise banter. The biggest mistake one can make is ignoring one's enemies. Go out of your way to pick a fight today.

If we did, +1, but I think they either got scrambled by the tractor beam or got blown out into space.

BACKROOM

The slaves are lined up as a fickle looking old woman scrutinizes them, licking her lips. Raising their arms, looking in their mouth, wacking them up and down with a stick.

These four. Sell the others.

In their cuffed hands she hands them a weapon.

After the first two she hands the 3rd a weapon.

Jagula is given a military fork.

She moves on without aknowledging his response. The final man at the end of the line is approached.

Nerdelium is bestowed a falchion, just like the 2nd man's.

THE PIT

The four men a dragged out into the hot sun. The small crowd claps and cheers in a piecemeal way, the ones nearest the pit seem really into it. Not many blood stains, that's good, they just want a good fight.

The announcer speaks a foreign language, he seems to be calling out Killius, a man with a maul steps out. Judging by the lukewarm cheer like the men before recieved, he's a no name.

The five are spread an equal distance around the arena. Their cuffs removed.

The announcer shouts something and they are nudged forward.

 Waitlist.

I think you should have wild animals in this, too. I'd be up to playing a lion!

Suddenly the crowd begins chanting, s o m e t h i n g -big.. is about to happen. Toh Toh Toh they repeat with focusing intensity.

A large feline is heard belowing. Then with the click of a cage, silence.
